I love the disco but im looking to get another vehicle to save on gas and came up with an idea...

What bout a BMW f650 GS DAKAR??

It would allow me to do some mild off-roading and allow me to get to school/work etc at 65mpg. Anyone on here have any expirience on this model?

I guess the BMW would be my first choice followed by a KTM? or a Kawasaki?

__I know people are going to say that I should either stick to a street bike/ or a dirt bike to play on.. But ive done both and I would really like the ability to switch it up from time to time.

I should add that in no way am I concidering geting rid of the disco though :)

Ohhhhh you can do more than "mild" with that number :D
those things are bullet proof

KTM is great as well

all the jap bikes are great in IMHO

btw, the F650 is a great bike! Took mine from Philly to Texas, no worries.
Dual sports are definitely the way to go.

Now, let me be the first one to caution you about motorcycles.
Nah, not THAT lecture.
More so, watch your pocketbook. It's a really expensive hobby ;)
Don't believe me? Look here: TOURATECH

Suddenly that Dakar will seem inadequate for even a mild ride to Taco Bell without skid plates/panniers/suspension upgrade/etc. Trust me.

Oh yeah, buy this DVD

Depends on what you spend your money on but they dont have to be expensive. Maintanence is easy and for the most part, the parts are cheap and usually upgradeable if something fails.

Now, secondly, I love BMW bikes and enduro's in general however; from my experience women...at least non-lesbian type do not like the looks of them. I have been running the idea by my wife for some time to upgrade from a street bike to an enduro but the wife makes fun of whoever she sees on one. :) especially when they have on their big baggy rain suits.

Just an outsider looking in's opinion though, likke any hobby you wont understand unless you are into it. My rover got called a hick by a friend of mine the other day because the disco has a winch on the front of it, im tempted to call up all my old jeepin buddies and show her what a hick really looks like.
