Well I've decided to join the "LR Nation":victory: . Life is to short to settle. I've want one for a long time and damn it I deserve it. I just lost a friend who worked like a dog all his life and was finally getting set up to retire and had a heart attack while driving and died. So look for more questions to follow in the coming months.

Welcome! That is sad to hear about your friend. You are making a good decision to do/experience something that you have always wanted to.

I always wanted a rover. My wife said "let's get one." That was 6 months after we bought her 07 charger with a hemi. I should have pushed for an 04'

Thanks for the kind words about my friend. On a happier note I'm torn between the D1 and a RR. The RR fits my family needs better though. Most of the time we'll head to the beach with fishing gear(including yak) and all the beach stuff for family to be happy while dad fishes:) . The Honda Element doesn't fit the needs by any means but does gas wise for wife's commute. Plus we head up to Cape Cod for a week and want to get the over sands permit for fishing. Over the winter I'll be researching both and hopefully in the early spring I'll be purchasing either of my picks.

P.S. Someone tell the snow gods to unleash a holy rather of snow this winter. It'll make my purchasing kitty fatter:)

Ditto. Get the Range Rover!! I had the P38 (4.6HSE) and I miss the heck out of it. Smooth car. Has its quirks though (hell they all do).

I'm happy to hear you will be joining us. There's a nice RR on the Spokane Craigslist just in case you don't want to wait. Please buy it so I am not tempted. Happy Trails.:bigok:

If I had to get a purely recreational vehicle as opposed to a daily with the ability to get off road, I'd probably go with a late model Series. What do you guys think about that option? I guess the pricing is comparable to the early 90's rr and d1, but it sort of seems like less can go wrong and they are very cool, capable and ageless.... What do you guys think?
