I always thought Rovers looked great in NATO Light Stone, but I'd never seen a Discovery in that color. I'm considering painting my D1 and wanted to see what it might look like. After some work in Photoshop, here's what I came up with:

Yea, I would have to say NATO white and diplomat escort black would be among those other 25 for me as well. But, as was said, I am all for each one doing their own thing with their rover from mods, to decals, to paint, so go for it!

I like it.

If you're going to do this, for God's sake don't go to Maaco. Prepare to shell out and have a pro do it.

Yep, go for it. Ive been considering picking up a non running D1 here in town (radio/alarm code) and doing the same.

ltngaines on here painted his D1. It's darker than sandstone and looks great, I've seen it in person. Lightstone is too light IMO.

Thanks that's the first real one I've seen. I'm still just kicking the idea around. I think it only looks good on fully outfitted Discos and even then it looks better on Defenders. I think the dark blue I have looks pretty good too.

I have one of those seemingly rare D1s with factory flares and larger side trim. I started removing all the trim and found squares holes in addition to the very difficult to remove double sided tape. Anyways I'll have to have a body shop fill the holes, and might as well do a paint job. Never seen these holes on other Discos before. Must just be a rare trim option.
