pretty clearly the linex on the feet is preventing the bracket from sliding up the outside as you tighten the allen.

as they come factory painted with a slick surface you can easily tighten them and twist and damage the gutter they work so well.

man I know your not asking for opinions but that shit is heavy, ugly and will catch every bit of dust on the trail...and it's preventing the rack from getting tight. WOW what a great modification:rolleyes:

Wow... what are the odds... I also had my SD rack and ladder Line-x'd this Saturday. Turned out great, I went with the Line-X XTRA since it is fade resistant. Mine would hit, sometimes, on the drivers side prior to the line-x... figured since it wasn't hitting all the time, just the usual flex and loose tolerances of a LR. I also figured it would get worse once the outside of the brackets were line-x'd, but I said fuck it... rather deal with a little banging of door top than continued rusting of the SD. Mine came with the worst powdercoating... absolutely paper thin...

When I have the window down, the top doesn't rub. Only when the window is up all the way does the top of the door frame rub. I will try swapping the brackets around next weekend to see if that helps as well as tightening the rack down differently.

Somewhere near Atlanta
LineX, Rhino lining blah, blah, blah is for pickup truck beds...
I was thinking it was too thick on the inside of the bracket as others have mentioned, but since you didn't have that coated, well...maybe it's damaged.

For clarification... I didn't get the feet done or inside of the brackets... The line-x's guys taped off the feet matching up where the fade lines were on the rack so that the brackets would attach as they did prior to the line-x. I figure if I switch a few around it might gain me some additional clearance in the event the one on now is not able to compress tight enough against the gutter.

X2

Take those bitches to the bench grinder. Mine have hit (of course i have an NWP though) for a while now, I am just too lazy to shave a little off and repaint them. If it is just one bracket, I don't think grinding down or cutting off a little bit will make a difference.

Thats what Im going to do now. Just going to have the bottom cut/ grinded off to fit better.

My Powder coat on the SD was shitty to and rusting that why I lineX it. It was starting to surface rust all along the top. It loks great... now if the dam door wouldnt bang we would be good!

Have you had someone sit on the rack while you tighten it down?

Rack is seated all the way. I need the bottom of the bracket to come up.. ie the rain gutter needs to come up.

I fixed mine today... I bent the gutter upward by using my high lift... I place it inside near the drivers seat on the floor board... jacked it all the way up until it reached the gutter and pressed it upward about 1/4"... worked great.

Spacers in the gutter do NOt raise the height of the bracket, only the rack. The bracket catches underneath the rain gutter, therefore cant go any higher than the bottom of the rain gutter. There is no way to move up the bottom of the rain gutter.

Door hits the bracket not the rack.
Oh my bad just a suggestion bud. Hope you don't have to go throught too much more trouble,

So I had this same problem on the driver's side window frame (note: my rack is not coated, just factory finish). The front foot of the rack was slightly rubbing the top front portion of my window frame. Anyway, I fixed it and thought I'd post my fix for anyone that has this issue in the future.

It's an easy fix. Just requires adjustment of the window frame by first removing the door panel. This is the hardest part because you have to be careful not to destroy the panel when popping out the panel studs. Use a panel removing tool.

Then, loosen two torx bolts on the outside of the door frame (one at the upper rear and one at the upper front).

Inside the bottom of door frame, loosen two 10mm bolts at each end that hold the window frame in place.

Then loosen one 13mm bolt on inside face of door just under the sideview mirror.

Loosen the sideview mirror to move it up a bit as you lower the window frame down a bit (make sure window is slightly rolled down).

Once you've gotten the clearance you need just tighten everything back up and replace the panel and you are good to go.

That's it. Pretty easy fix.

Had similar problem with a regular, non coated SD rack. I just dont use the allens. Try without them for now, i havent had any issues so far.

On the other hand, fuck the doors, get rid of them, keep the rack.

x3 on the window frame needing adjustment. You should have listened to the first guy mentioning this! They should clear fine even after you coated them. Your doors will move and so will the frames after time and use.
