When I got home this afternoon (it was sitting at home all day) it started right up, I let it idle until it got up to normal temp then shut it off. Started it up again, and it sort of hesitated but finally started. Also got all the screws out except for one, probably going to grind it off tomorrow if it wont come out, then I can check the fuel pump voltage.
Also just want to thank everyone for all their input.

Well I finally got the last screw out, Took the cover off and all the wires looked fine, checked the voltage at the pump and I was getting 5.44 volts on one wire and 5.13 volts on another, Also I let it idle for about 1/2 hour and shut it off and it would not re-start. I knocked on the relay w/ a screwdriver and it still would not crank. I guess I need to take the relay and change it out. Anyone else have any other suggestions. :banghead:

When I get Home I will take pictures and post them up of the two connectors at the tank. It was either a six pin or a four pin connector plus the three pin connector.

At least it's not a mazda rotary.

The second generation RX-7s had a problem with the cold idle setting on the ecu. If you started one with a few miles on it, drove it a few feet, and killed it, it would sometimes flood. "you may think big deal it's flooded" Flooding a rotary would wash the oil off the inside of the engine and with worn rotor tips it would not make enough compression to start."EVER" The solution is to pour a bit of automatic transmission fluid in the top 2 spark plug holes, replace the plugs and it would start and smoke terribly till the tranny fluid burned off. It was something I had to plan my day around for a while. :banghead: Nothing you could predict, and never when you weren't already running late.

I know it doesn't help you out any, but you may someday come upon a second generation RX-7 for sale really cheap that won't start and you'll be able to drive it home. ;)

You're not smelling gas when it runs poorly a short while and dies are you?

Neil

I once moved a buddys RX a couple feet and shut it off. He said "oh crap" and a half hour later it was on a wrecker!!

My Infiniti G-35 also hated being shut off before a total warm up.

Get the battery checked out?

Correctly if I am wrong...... but doesnt that only apply to the 4.6 engine?

My D1 is only a trail rig and sits for weeks before being run. The battery always struggles to start it but always does.

My wifes 03 D2 sat for a week at the beach once and was very hard to start due to a low battery. Once it started, it would not shift out of 1st gear. I drove it for alittle bit thinking it would shift once warmed up but didnt. However, driving it and running it charged the batt. so once I turned it off and restarted it, it shifted fine. Since it was under warranty I took it in and they confirmed what I mentioned, put in a new batt. and never had anymore problems.

When my Crank position sensor went it would run fine then not restart, if you let it cool off for 1/2 to 3 hours it would start and run fine, only to not start the next time, this went on for about a week and not every time, I replaced the crank pos sensor and no problems since.
