The block will work fine in place of a 3.9 with no changes. You have to use your 3.9 oil pump/cover. You also need to either replace the damper (serpentine) or add a spacer as the crank is a little longer. I have a Bosch 4.6 in the hole where my 3.9 once was.

If any one is thinking of mixing GEMS and BOSCH components make sure you have the correct TIMMING CHAIN SPROCKET and CRANK POSITION SENSOR MOUNTING PLATEfor your system. The block is entirely interchanable between all the 3.9s and 4.0s

I normally do not put my two cents in. But You guys might want to think about what you are saying some of the 3.9's will not interchange with the 4.0. We do one or two engines a week. I learned it the hard way. The 4.0 block is the same Bosch or gems. The ancilliaries are different. But the crank is different on early v belt 3.9's over the serpentine 3.9's. You cannot just switch timing covers. Different cams also. Ie: 3.9's have a distributor and 4.0's have a coil pak instead of a dizzy.

I have put one of these blocks in a 3.9 with a V-belt setup and it worked fine. Only needed to put a spacer in front of the crank pulley to allow the bolt to tighen properly. Also stated that the block does not have a cam or front cover on it so it will need the appropriate one installed. I'm not trying to sell someone some junk here. It is a Genuine Rover block purchased at the local dealer, still in the factory crate.

if you do one or two a week then you need to buy this one from me so you can resell for the 3500 or more that they retail for now:D

There is a guy on the the Wanted board looking for an inexpensive engine. Take a look and see if your short block might help him out.
