I put one of Mark's 229 cams in my 4.0 that I rebuilt. Just broke it in yesterday and it runs good (sounds healthy at least).

After the 30 minute break-in, I took the truck for a drive. I couldn't really gather how it ran, as one of the transmission cooler lines popped right off the cooler 3 miles down the road.

I spent a few hours cursing on the side of the road getting eaten with mosquitos trying to get the hose to click back on, but ended up just breaking the metal tube clean off the cooler. Admitting defeat, I had the truck towed back home.

I found a replacement cooler to drop in and will cross my fingers that the few seconds it took for me to realize the trans was not pushing the truck didn't burn up the innards of my auto. Knowing my luck, the transmission is permanently destroyed. However, I hope the cam makes for pleasant Rovering when I get this bullshit sorted.

At one time at anyway Crowler did not make a drop-in cam for the GEMs or Bosch engine. Mark was basically taking a cam off the shelf and milling the drive gear/distributor gear/cog/whatever off of it so it would fit.

I used a rotary pump that runs off cordless drill, used it for transmission, transfer case and both axles works great just don't let the output hose slip out while it's running lol

I am rebuilding my 4.2 and ordered a cam, cam bearings, timing chain set, and lifters. The cam box says Crower 229 on the box. He didn't say it would be anything custom to me. I got it in a week and was happy with the service.

I use a cheap pump up sprayer like my wife uses to spray her plants.
I think it holds a couple gallons.
I cut the spray nozzle off the end of the wand.
Fill it with trans fluid, pump it up, stick the end in the fill hole and pull the trigger.
