I have the Governor's cell number if you want a biased opinion.:)

packing.org is your friend.

Issuance of Permit/License:
Resident Permit/License: Yes
Non-resident Permit/License: No
Shall-issue Permit/License: Yes
Must apply in person: No
Info in Permit/License Public: No
Permit/License age minimum: 21
Shall-issue means that the issuing authority has no discretion when to issue Permit/License if the applicant is not disqualified.

Other Information:
Must carry Permit/License by law: Yes
Must notify officer when carrying: No
Can carry in state park: No
Gun-friendly peaceable journey laws: Yes
Guns must be registered with state/police: No

Why I like Washington:

"While it is always appropriate to retreat before using deadly force if safe to do so, Washington State has no statutory requirement to attempt to retreat before deadly force can be lawfully employed. Washington is a "stand your ground" state. For a detailed interpretation for what this might mean, be sure to contact a lawyer admitted to the Washington State bar."

Gun laws are very lax brother walked out of the store with a Colt 1911. never going back to cali. same with rifles and shot guns.

I just checked packing.org and we've cleared that hurdle. SWMBO is kinda accepting of the fact that I'm not gonna be able to make much of a living in Indiana and whether I stay in Rovers or go back to EH&S, Fort Wayne is not a place where I can earn a real living.

I just looked at a map and it's not that far from Farmington, Moab and Colorado.

Maybe it's worth a try.

Sante Fe is amazing for wheeling. My father has a horse ranch there and loves it! Hates going back to work in NYC. The rover people are some of the finest, very friendly and have a true love for their trucks, camaraderie and wheeling. (ALB/Rio Rancho and Sante Fe) There is also NMT in Socorro which is about 1 hour from ALB/Sante Fe and Box Canyon is down that way.

You would never be bored, there is so much to do and see from Four Corners to skiing in Ruidoso. I would call Rob Dassler, he worked on my truck last time I was there. One of the best rover mechanics I have dealt with, hands down. I would move in a heartbeat.

Here is a link to the Rover Group: http://www.highdesertrovers.org/

I have never dealt with Bill's European Automotive BUT my father has had the BMW worked on before so I can check with him to see if they used his shop or not. I would do it...It is also close to Denver too!

Thanx all. I'll be calling Bill tomorrow morning to iron out some specifics and we'll see if we can come to terms.

Keith:
I'm so sorry I thought for sure I'd told you yes, I'd received the package. BTW-what are the tax implications of continuous relocation for work? I'mscared what the IRS is gonna think of my repeated movign expenses. I'm afraid I've spent more moving than I made working for L-R PDX (Dirty Bastards).

PT,

Don't have any experience with that shop but we would love to have you out here... I am in Albuquerque but often go to and used to work in Santa Fe... Rob Dassler is a great contact for the wheeling around here and he runs a great shop in Alb. Santa Fe is the "city different" but it’s not far from a lot of really nice places (and nice places to go shooting). Houses are a little steep as far as price in Santa Fe (I am a mortgage broker so I see a lot of them) but you can get a great place at a resonable price within commuting distance if you look. It would be nice to have another Rover addict out here. It is a great place to be.
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions on the restaurants, schools or any other thing you can think of, my family has been out here for generations... And definitely get in touch with Rob, he is a great guy. Look forward to seeing you and your truck around!
:victory:

I live in Durango Co. I am only like 30 miles from the NM border. I used to work and go to school in farmington. There are plenty of places in NM to wheel. Farmington is where Chole Cherry Canyon is and the uroc/iroc is there alot. Also as far as guns go, yes NM is pretty chill. They are hard core on the little wannabe gangsters carrying them in Abq. But most people never have problems. Permit is not hard to get eiter.
