They'll sell every single one they make, and will likely sell most before they get a chance to make them.

Rovers are armored frequently. A factory unit will impress many buyers.

"I would sum this Range Rover up in three words: Luxurious All Terrain Fortress."

That's four words moron.

I bet there are some folks here who already have dibs on quite a few of them coming off the line; this place has a ton of Autobiography Editions running around so this would be a good way to top them.

I deal with a few of the likely customers. They actually drive some of my former cars, as well. I guarantee at least two of them have multiple orders lined up in ridiculous colors.

When we lived in Brasil, blindado or armored vehicles were pretty much every where. Various levels yet just bullet proof glass all around common even on standard sedans. Most manufacturers such BMW, M-B offer it there as a factory based option.

There's a company down there that sells a full glass package for a DII for seven grand.

Almost assuredly. It is an interesting place, and stuff like this doesn't even stick out (this is just a normal day at my local mechanic's)

The uparmored rovers are nice bc of the air suspension, I personally prefer the LC even though it rides like a pig they blend it esp when beat up a bit. Suburbans just scream American or Saudi and suck with all the extra weight.

You should see the classic ride I let go in Dubai. That fine fellow has been smiling ear to ear ever since; rolling in an old iron American dream cruiser with 10,000 original miles. It's nothing next to his other vehicles, but to him it's very special.

I rather liked it, actually, but not as much as he does. It'll get the best care in the world, so I wasn't too sorry to see it go. A week after it arrived he was pleased to let me know he'd arranged to have all new bushings made for it, because the replacement options weren't of OEM quality.

In your area, you've probably seen a late model super-car I sold on the track if you ever head out to watch. If you haven't, I highly recommend you do. These guys are balls-out. The new owner is a very enthusiastic driver. He had four of them, but one... Didn't make it. So, he wanted another.

I've still got the picture of it being loaded into the carrier with his other purchase at the time. It's probably got twice the horsepower now, as he's got his own tuning operation for his cars.

Hopefully it's still in one piece. I've been rather hesitant to ask. :)

It's about all I can do for a while, and the garage needed thinning. I just didn't have the space. I figured they'd pounce on the cars, and the sales were quick. If I'm not toast I'll head back out eventually to do what I like doing, but for now it's trade only.

Good thing they like things other than cars. I'm down to five now, and I'm pretty damned sure neither of those guys is interested in three of them.

Land Rovers diagnostic computers ask if Range Rovers are armored vehicles. I'm not sure why that article said it was the first. Maybe the first 405 Range?

I have thought more than a few times about importing muscle cars this way for the penchant here for thirsty, loud, cars. The best part being folks here could give zero F's about matching numbers-if you put it together, make if fast/loud/unique they'll eat it up. $$$ to be made giving people something to feel unique in when every MB here is an AMG. I have a buddy with a non AMG spec Gwagon he brought from a previous post that confuses the hell out of folks here.

The other thing that would kill it here is Waffle House. Both Dubai and Abu Dhabi need a Waffle House.

I need to get to the track, been thinking hard about going to the F1 this year b/c, well, it's the F1.

My friend's X5 windshield alone cost 10 grand. He broke 2 of them light off roading with us in our 110. Since he was the CFO for BMW Latin America cost wasn't an issue yet BMW had to check on all the X5s sold as the windshield manufacture screwed up.

He looks like a participant in the "Upper Class Twit of the Year" contest.

Ha! Excellent reference!

Armored cars are so...passive. When I lived in South Africa there was an aftermarket mod to install flamethrowers on BMWs as a defense against the all-too-common carjacking. Someone was also devising a means to electrify the outside of a Mercedes, I can't recall if that made it to market or not.

Life is full of hazards. You get some choice in which ones you want to risk. Yet I'm currently trying to figure out how to move back to South Africa. When you drive an old Land Rover nobody wants to carjack you.

The flamethrower idea is kind of novel. I prefer flashbangs but it would be badass to roast someone outside the car. Or just do it at stoplights for fun.
