So pumped for tomorrow! Well, my team (Redskins) only has 4 picks or something so I don't have that much to look forward too, but I just love football and this is basically all we've got to look forward too until preseason games start up.

Yes, I am obsessed.

Any team that can get Big Ben for a their top ten pick and doesn't deserves to keep sucking. If I was the GM for the Rams this would be done already.

I would love for my Denver Broncos to get Big Ben. Any team who wouldn't give up a #1 pick deserves to remain a bottom feeder. He is a difference maker as long as you can keep an iron jock strap on him 24/7. If the Broncos could not get Big Ben then I wish they could get Suh somehow but either is beyond remote. Mc Idiot their coach seems hell bent on trading away everybody of any value unless they kiss and worship the ground he walks on. There is too much endless draft hype. Just get it on and do the picks.

I think football is overhyped. Three hours of TV, commentator garble, and commercials for three minutes of gameplay - ugh.... ....not to mention endlessly hyped events like the draft and preseason games which for some unknown reason overshadow everything else in the universe.

Don't get me wrong, I LIKE football. ...I just don't understand why everyone is so damned obsessed with it.

hahahaha... I was brought up that way I guess. It started with playing in high school, then following college football *Va. Tech*, then the NFL. It's easier to follow players in the NFL. College players are coming and going all the time. I love college football, but not as much as the NFL. I love college basketball WAY more than the NBA, but that's for another thread.

Why is anyone obsessed with anything? What are you obsessed with? I'm sure I can find a way to wonder why you are.....

That's certainly true... I have plenty of obsessions that many people don't get - anachronism, combat sports (participating, not observing), Star Wars, roleplaying, and that formerly leaky hunk of junk in my parking spot... :D

As a Broncos fan from the 70s ..... as much as I liked the offensive mind of Shanahan his Super Bowl teams were built on the drafts of Dan Reeves.

Cutler is a baby - gone, good.
Marshall was another wanna-bee Owens - gone, good.

The drama queens are gone.

The team will be 'built' in round 2 & 3, the meat of the draft. The Broncos are well positioned after the trades.

I hope you are right about the Broncos. I too am a long time Bronco fan. I'm not convinced McDaniels knows what he is doing. Got rid of the big, bruising white running back he wouldn't use last year and a tight end recently too I thought performed fairly well. Some of the drama queens are definitely gone and for the good but so many modern overpaid athletes are the same. We won't win with Orton though he certainly has talent and plays hard. They need some superlative draft picks on both offense and certainly defense. I think you build a team around defense first. Good luck to our Broncos. As for college football, I am one of those most hated things in Colorado--- A rabid Cornhusker fan.

The Broncos took TEEEEEBBBBOOOOWWWWW!!!! I'm completely flabbergasted as is everyone I talked to tonight. McDaniels is either the reincarnation of Einstein or totally certifiable. He has guts, I'll say that. Wow, the Circus formerly known as the Broncos staggers onward towards some misty, Pie in the Sky, Helter Skelter, Steven Kinglike saga.

Pro football is boring... NCAA is where its at...

Well then don't tell me your an MLB fan or I'm gonna have to call BS on this statement.

IMO, Pro football is in NO WAY boring at all. What game are you watching??? The NBA vs. NCAA I can agree with 100%. NBA players hardly run, they mope up and down the court, there's barely any intensity until the playoffs come and it is hard to watch considering how much money they make. The NFL is full steam all the time and a very competitive league. Baseball, to me, is just too slow. I'd rather watch golf to be honest.

Not saying everyone isn't entitled to their own opinion but I have a hard time digesting anyone's thoughts that the NFL is "boring", especially if you call yourself a football fan. That's all I'll say on this subject.

Back to the draft, I LOVE my Redskins draft pick of Oklahoma's Trent Williams. Finally, a smart pick.

Tebow is a good choice and fits with the new direction of the Broncos. Gone are the drama queens, replaced with character and leadership.

Orton has one year left on his contract.

Quinn has a low cost 2 year contract.

Tebow is the future and only time will tell.

Georgia Tech receiver Demaryius Thomas is faster than Marshall, without the personal baggage.

So far a good draft for the Broncos.

Stu:

HunterAK - Baseball is full of tension, subtle maneuvering and strategy... subtext and subterfuge. Signals from the skipper, the catcher, sweat on the pitcher's brow... is he really tired? Is the batter's confidence real or feigned? Is that fly ball gonna eke over the fence??? It's the only sport where cheating is basically ok (stealing bases and other shenanigans) as long as you get away with it, and one of a very few with no time limit. It also is the least predictable sport in the world (more turnovers than any other sport). Lotta things to love about it, but how it can be called "slow" in comparison with endless replays, commercials, and blathering commentators, I have never understood.

Cheating like steroids maybe. :smilelol: MLB is extremely slow and on top of that it is also full of commercials and blathering commentators and a bunch of dudes standing around spitting on the ground and readjusting their batting gloves before every swing... Oh wait, TIME!! He needs to step off the plate for a minute and take a deep breath. Ok, now he's ready to bat. I don't know how you could debate that MLB is faster paced than the NFL.

To each his own though. Enjoy your baseball, I've got my football, and we both will be under the hood of our Rovers and will probably miss half the games anyways. :D
