No reverse lights

Looking for input as to why my reverse lights are not coming on. This is a '97 Disco. Neither the LH nor RH sides are working. All other lights and accessories are working. No blown fuses and replaced both lights with new bulbs. Even checked the new bulbs with the blinkers and they work. The only item left is the reverse light switch. I went underneath to check for loose or unplugged wires and all was ok. I have been playing around in mud and water so the plugs are a little dirty. Of all the plugs I couldn't figure which the reverse switch would be. According to the LR workshop manual the switch is located at the rear of the selector housing but, this is for a manual gearbox. I can't find any mention refering to an automatic gearbox. Am I looking in the right place and am I going in the right direction?

You most likely have an R-380 ******. The reverse switch is on the left side of the transfer case housing, directly beneath the shifter mechanism.

Thanks...found the switch. The connections are tight. Did it just go
bad over time? I'm now trying to remove it to get a better look.
Should I just replace it once it's out? Also, should I follow the re-setting
proceedure when it's replaced? Thanks again.
