My home is where my Disco is
It's that time of the year when the rain starts to pour and the Rover owner takes a look at the seals to renew before the rainfall comes.

Yes, both of my trunk side window seals are starting to go, and the seal itself is no longer available from LR.
Craddocks don't have them, AB and Britishpacific don't list them either

It seems LR wats us to dich our classics by deleting more more parts as days go by.

Any suggestions about where to find them would be really appreciated

It's a very rare 1995 RRC 5 spd, soft dash, which left the assembly line as a 300tdi unit, by far the most reliable rover i've ever had.
Happy sunday to everyone

Robert

I feel your pain as I've been trying to find a rubber molder to make the MXC 8422 for me, but so far, I've found one company willing to reverse engineer them for me. Minimum order, 10,000. Cost per piece, $10, with a $50K set-up/reverse engineering/tooling cost.

I've had several UK suppliers tell me they'd buy them by the pallet, but the initial cost is one I can't overcome.

That said, it's not so much them being obsoleted as it is the OE manufacturers gong out of business in the past few years.

Hi PT,
a really sad sad case as we struggle to keep our trucks on the road. But maybe not all is lost.

I've tracked down a door and window seal manufacturer in the UK, who only does door, window, boat and caravan rubber seals and also manufactures door seals and bespoke seals for Jaguars and Land Rovers (the latter being only Series 1 parts). I've just contacted him but, as it's sunday, will have to wait.

let me write down the link here:
http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/

will report any news received.

Maybe you can contact them to try to reproduce MXC 8422, which, by the way, has seen better days in mine and will need replacing soon as well.

As far as the window seals go, i've tracked down a pair in..yes, Japan! around 600 quid the set, so mine will have to wait, with silicone or whatever is needed to help keep water and rust out

Elias,
my seals are from the trapezoidal side windows in the trunk area, left and right. Nearly all them are dry and half perished.

Best regards from the other side of the pond
Robert

I feel your pain! I took my '87 through a car wash yesterday and as the soap and rinse water squirted on my shoulder, I really, really wished I could by some new weatherstripping.... I love my Range Rover, absolutely love it, but the lack of soft parts is bringing me closer and closer to looking for a salvageable 109 and cannibalizing my Range Rover to make a hybrid.... At least all the Series parts are more or less available. More and more I run into the NLA issue when I am trying to find parts for my Range Rover, especially little bits and pieces for the HVAC system, weatherstripping, mouldings, and that sort of thing.

I've come to the realization that some of my trucks are more valuable stripped down than they are intact.

I'll be stripping down three of them in the near future. It kills me to strip a running-driving truck.
