Odd Tail light issue

I have a passenger rear tail light problem. The tail light works with the brakes and the turn and flashers. (Driver side everything works). When I turn my lights on the light doesn't light up but when brakes are applied it works. Anyone have any ideas? I have checked all bulbs and replaced them and checked the fuses as well. Tested the sockets and no power going to them when the light are turned on.

Could this be a relay?

Had close to the same problem in my drivers side....check your bulb holder and see if it is making good contact. There may be some plastic sticking farther into the housing than the metal contact point.

I have the same issue, but on the driver's side. bulbs and connections are good, as when I jumper hot from the passenger side to power line, i can get the bulbs to light up. for whatever reason, just not getting power to the lights. checked all fuses that relate to the lights and looked over all the other fuses. all seem good. is there something I am missing? what else could cause no power to driver's side rear lights?

I feel like I'm having almost the same issue as Robbie. I've checked all fuses and connections are good but the running lamps on the driver side of my '97 DI won't run. It's not the bulb and it's not the light plug. What's the deal here!?

What are you working on crazy guy ? Are we talking about 2 different bulbs and you just have a simple bulb deal going on ? I read this post and wonder how 1 bulb could do soo many things.

Reading over my post I realize how little information I gave. Sorry about that! The issue was that three running lights on the driver side would not come on. Starting with the tail light running light, head lamp running light, and bumper running light.
I found a solution last night but never the problem. I had taken the entire loom of wires to try and trace it. The only thing I could ever find was that the running light wire wasn't getting power from the jumper (which is in the corner above the light) so a friend and I had to re-wire the jumper and that gave all three lights I was having problem power.
Back on topic I checked the glove box light and it was also out ;)
