Trying to plan a honeymoon for early April. Looking at the caribbean, relaxed and private. We are avid scuba divers so we would like to get a few dives in, not completely set around diving though. We have both been to the caymans, st thomas, st maarten, bahammas, jamaica. I have been zeroing in on BVI and Anguilla. Any suggestions? Not interested in Sandals.

St.john is like the hippy version of st.thomas, I liked it a lot more. Course I broken my collar bone in two places and got stitches on my knee so I couldn't go in the water. The weed was pretty good though

Of all the Caribbean places I went diving, I'd go back to Bonaire or Curacao in a split second. Relaxed and private.

In Virgin Gorda (Brit VI)

You want secluded? Only way to get there is by boat (no roads). They have 2xday (IIRC) dives, plus snorkeling, sailing (from sunfish on up, also have classes), day trips.

Food is included in room rate, and the restaurant is outstanding. Best tuna I ever had was there; at breakfast they ask you what you want for dinner - the local fishermen were litteraly bringing the fish in that they just caught.

I did my honeymoon there 18 yrs ago. Fabulous place.

We went to a sandals, which I know you said you don't want. It was way better than I thought it would be though, It was Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica. it was very quiet and private.

Whatever you do, don't break your foot right before the wedding. It makes for a very painful time. Romantic walks on the beach with broken foot = pain. Or, if you are going to break it, make sure you have time to go to doctor before the wedding or before you leave for the Honeymoon. Jamaican rum helps, but still sucks

I'll also be honeymooning in early April. We chose Hawaii over the Caribbean.

edit: I guess I should include the reasons. It's surprisingly affordable, and the wife to be is a busy body. Says she will get bored staring at water for 7 days, so we are choosing an island that has "things to do." Whatever keeps her happy, right?
