Drove by a very dirty but very shiny P38 for several days on the way to a new client site, then on the 7th day... a for sale sign materialized...
1998, 1 owner, all service records, mint interior and most everything functional... even a/c all seems well such that it can be on a p38- with a limited run time checking.
Bought it for less than a set of 20" bling spinners at an LA flea market- Towed it home- Appears to be a blown head gasket- coolant is dripping out of the bottom of the engine -pass side- didn?t' want to run too long- no white smoke on start or water and oil milkshake- what I'd associate with a blown head gasket- I haven't done an exhaust gas check of the coolant yet- Either way with 150k on the clock the current engine isn't a long term option- don't have a manual for this yet-
is there anything to check that could cause the leak besides the head gasket?

I'd like to drop a 4.6 GEMS 1 for 1- new tranny and dual factory exhaust- any known issues with this surgery? I searched the forums and most all of the posts are concerning disco's. Has anyone had any luck or experience with the swap? I'd think it would be straight forward as the 4.6 is an option for P38-

thanks

Update- closer inspection with a mirror - it looks like an intake gasket is the culprit of the leak... guess I'll stick with the 4.0 for a bit-
it's only a matter of time though... thanks
