I have never been to Paragon, and was thinking based on all the positive comments about it that it would be a good place to go to now that my winch is working. So I went and browsed their website www.paragonap.com
Paragon states on their website (park guidelines, and elsewhere) that they disallow any "firearms or weapons" on their property. This would seem to me to include defensive weapons, such as a pocketknife, or Mace, or a Maglite.
Frankly, if they had just said firearms and not the more general "firearms or weapons" I would be inclined to boycott their facility. As it is, I find it hard to believe that visitors are indeed complying with these rules and wonder what their motivation is in putting such a restriction down. I am also perplexed that (to my knowledge) this issue hasn't been brought up before (at least, I haven't seen discussion of it on discoweb).
Should we be starting a Boycott Paragon movement, or am I missing something here? I could understand if they had a restriction against firearms discharge, and/or against carry by a non-permitted individual, and/or against open carry, but such a general restriction as they have strikes me as antithetical to the world view of the majority of the folks on this site, and I suspect most four-wheelers.
