Okay was starting to assm. Disco 1 yesterday and I ran into one snag.... When I was going through the Torque steps I didnt realize it but the Torque wrench was not working correctly... Trying to get them to the initial 15 ftlbs Was kicking my ass and I am a big guy.... So I thought there is no way... So I grabbed another Torque wrench to discovered the bolts were way over 15 ftlbs.... Dont know exactly I am guessing around 60 to 80 ftlbs..... Not wanting to pull the heads again right after I finish the job was curious for the Rover Patrons opinions.... Should I just pull the head again and order now bolts or just loosen and start from scratch

With how sensitive the heads are on these trucks *I* would pull it, get new bolts and gaskets.

The question is.... is it worth the risk to *YOU*?

If it was an old iron chebby small block I'd say "Eh, leave it - she'll last a good long while" but I'd cringe about it on the aluminum beasts.

yea but when I tested them this morning after I got my hands on a newly calibrated digital wrench it said I was at over 100 ftlbs..... So i would just rather not go through the headach...... Also now I am going to pull the oil pan since I am delayed a day for the bolts and gaskets.... When I drop the pan the Oil sump pick up only has two bolts to remove.... Take it out and clean it Do I replace the gasket there also???? and When I called my buddy from LR he is a master tech there he said they use silicone for oil pan this is accurate???? cause I have seen gaskets before......

Yep, there is a gasket for the oil pan as well. I got one sitting in the room for a year as I was too lazy to take the pan out. Even the AT oil pan had a gasket as well.

Throw the LR oil pan gasket in the trash. Go get a tube of Right Stuff. Not just any gasket goo, get Right Stuff.

DIs use silicone, DIIs have a rubber gasket. Whatever you do, don't use a cork gasket, they leak like a sieve!

Do the DII rubber gasket fit on DI, I may had order the wrong stuff...

Seriously, UK's plastic /rubber quality is questionable, not just the gasket, my dash panel are all cracking and falling apart one after another. last year fixed the panel underneath the steering wheel, last weekend glue back the central dash, the plastic around the radio are all cracked, I still have the glove compartment and the vent on the windscreen to work on, if I had the tools and ability I will replace everything with "wood" once and for all!

the torque to yeild bolts end up with a torque of 95-100 ft lbs on them if the threads are clean and the studs lightly oiled.

I would have no problem just setting my wrench and going around to all bolts to the setting in the correct torque sequence and call it good.

but thats just me I guess

I figured that after all the sequence was completed it would be around 90-100 ftlbs however, I tightened each one to that spec then moved to the next one..... I still followed the sequence..... You dont think that by tighting each individual one to 100 then moving to the next one will fuck it up????

nope...the sequence is to move gasket material from the middle to the outside to get the gasket flat.

if you followed the sequence correctly I think it will be ok.

the 15ft lb step is just to get everything held tight a located .

I would go with it....but thats just me you need to make up your own mind.
