What is everyone using to seal the plenum? Rave calls for loctite 577, which Im sure the local auto parts store wont have. Is this the loctite number for hylomar or what ever that crap is? Is there a more common variant that will work? I searched, but other than some Yamaha stuff, nothing else came up.

Thanks,
John

Hylomar, or Loctite anerobic sealer (#518 I think) will work just fine. I bet you a burger though that assuming you havent cleaned it off, if you dont put anything back on it that it seals fine.

Thanks all. I havent cleaned it off, and Im pretty sure its the first time it has been removed. I will see if I can find the hylomar/518 stuff tomorrow before I begin the job.

Its a machined fit and doesn't requir any sealant according to LRNA as long as you are talking about the top plenum part.

 Yeah, I'm going to trust that Rover managed to make it flat. :smilelol:

A thin line of your favorite RTV is fine.

I'm probably late with this post and you are already done... I used Yamabond which is similar to Hylomar. Usually easier to find that Hylomar, your local Yamaha shop should have some in stock. This stuff is thin and remains flexible so works great for sealing two machined surfaces. However, it will not fill gaps so oil pans and stuff like that are better sealed with RTV.
