I'm looking for a replacement alternator for my 95 rrc. Does anyone have experience with the Rovers North Proline Alternator. They say it's new not rebuilt. I'm tempted to go for it at $293 vs. $623 for genuine.

I used the Proline on my 95 RRC. It worked fine, for awhile. It started making a bearing squealing sound right before I sold it.

On my D1, I used a Bosch reman. Its actualy a MM with a bosch sticker on it. That has been flawless for 6 months now. It was also around $200.

I have a working spare that tested at 11. Still works and charges fine, but since I changed my starter and so much other stuff, I threw in a new alt. I'll let it go cheap if you want - its a magnetti. If I hang onto it, I'll rebuild it and sell later.

hey Ian
What is wrong with your alternator? I rebuilt my 95 classic for about $20 in parts. Most auto elecric shops carry the bearings and rectifiers for this alt. Let me know if you have any questions.

i have brand new 120 amp units for 250.00 shipped. Magneti Marelli

Does the 120 amp work with the 3.9 in a 95 classic?

To answer your question AJ.

When I have a high load (such as at night with the heated windshield, wipers, fogs, lights, etc) the lights dim and the blower output decreases. Increasing engine RPM solves the problem but I haven't ever had the issue in the past. It's the original alternator with now about 100,000 miles on it. It's caked in dust and dirt that I can't get out as well, so I figured it is time for a new one.

I got the Proline from Rovers North for my RRC LWB after my original MM died.

No issues about 1000 miles later.

I didnt know that I could have rebuilt it myself though...also didnt know Will Tillery sells the MM for $250 shipped, new! Sounds like a good deal to me.
