I've found that the little mom and pop hardware stores have a better selection of grade 8 hardware vs the mainstream stores like home depot and lowes..

Agreed, my local ACE has a much better selection than any of the big stores. The worst selection I've found is at Tractor Supply. Half their stuff is always empty or in the wrong bins.

But if you have the time, I've been getting a lot of my smaller stuff from Amazon. If you look hard enough you can get most things cheaper than most other places.

How about not calling it a propshaft. Its a driveshaft. In America it's called a driveshaft.

Bah

As for sourcing fasteners, for the longest time, I was under the impression that Fastenal was the most expensive source.

The my Kimball-Midwest rep dropped the ball (which was kinda curious considering how hard they fought to earn my business) and I gave up and visited my local Fastenal store.

Not only can they have just about anything overnight, they have things like annular cutters and mill bits on the shelf!

And, they are less expensive than most of the other fastener sources I've used and as important, when I buy a fastener from Fastenal, I don't have to worry about buying a "Counterfeit" fastener of questionable provenance and metallurgy.
