Question Regarding Fender Flares

For XMas, my wife worked out a deal w/ a buddy to get his wheels and 35" Boggers...needless to say they fit, but I will need to do further trimming than what was already done for my previous swampers.

I really like the look of the D2 fender flares and am looking to grab a set but my question is for those who have cut and used the D2 flares, will I run into issues w/ them being too short and not turning out the way I envision (factory-like) and should I go w/ another option??

The truck ('97 D1) currently has a HD OME lift and 3 " Body Lift w/ some triming.

I have a set lined up but would like to get a little more feedback before pulling the trigger.

Thanks!

here's some i've been looking at:

I'm thinking about buying these, but just haven't decided if I want to cut into the rear door or not.

By the looks, these do not require cutting. They are not designed for bigger tires, but more for looks and a little protection from door dings. I have seen them in person. They go on with double-sided 3M body moulding tape.

These guys are most likely the only ones to have these in the US available. Everyone else is sold out.

that's good to know, I think I'll stay away from these then.

The other thought is to modify up a set of defender flares - there was a bright orange disco in one of last years issues of LRM that had them on - actually didn't look half bad.

If you are cutting, you may raise the question about Jeep Cherokee flares. Someone on here said something about 1996 flares.

With the Jeep ones, you have tons of options and widths!

If you go to landroverworld.org, there is a pretty sweet 2 door d1, might be the ride jeff was talking about. Those *look* like Jeep TJ flares. The rear flares for a newer wrangler (97-06) can be chopped up and made to fit. you would have to get creative with the rear door opening, though.. just a thought, anyway

Modifying the D2 flares to fit the D1 is the hardest part of the swap, but in all reality is isnt *that* fuckin hard at all.
