Hi,

Anyone know of a good radiator shop in central NJ to get my radiator recored? Also, any idea what I could expect to pay for it? Thanks!

dcarr... hes got a d1 not a d2. new radiators for a d1 are 600 bucks at AB. Anyway i got mine recored 4 years ago for 279.00 dollars at a very reputable place in san jose, ca. Some people that were into racing cars recommended them. They did an EXCELLENT job. Im still running it to this day with no issues and no leaks. they also put in another row.

your best bet is to do some leg work contact some speciality race shops- mustangs, etc etc and ask them were to go. you will find that most places will recommend one or two different places.

Yep, it's a D1. I really don't want to spend $600 or so on a new radiator... so $50 to get it recored Ft. Worth? I was about to take out the radiator and visit my Uncle in Dallas. :) So it was rodded, did you find that having it rodded helped?

Yes, greatly. Mine was leaking around the oil cooler nipples which is why I pulled it out and it turns out it was plugged up in the middle. It has been well over a year and no problems leaking etc. . .

Well, I was quoted "at least $450" for a recore... so I bought a heavy duty fan clutch for $50 while I decide what to do, it roars, but the car hasn't gone over 195 degrees even with the ac on. So I'm thinking I might take out the radiator and get it cleaned/rodded.
So how much oil and transmission fluid can I expect to spill from the cooler lines? Any tricks to removing without any spillage?

Its not much but I recommend a drain pan underneath. Pull the lines off and point them upwards so they dont drain. You'll still get some spillage no matter what.

i dont know where in jersey you are but City Radiator in Trenton has a good reputation

Thanks, I will call them and see what they say. I'm about 40 minutes away, that's not too bad if they do a good job.
