Range Rover CarMax warranty

I thought CarMax stopped extended warranties on Land Rovers?

Apparently not. I stopped at our local Carmax 2 weeks ago to scope out a RRS. I was just looking and the sales guy was already trying to sell me a warranty.

Funny part is when I told him I heard their warranty program sucked, then showed him the online reviews on my phone. He was not amused.

You couldn't run fast enough to give me a new Land Rover! What a tremendous POS! A D1 is as "modern" as I would dare to go!

It's a useful cost-benefit analysis and the conclusion - in this instance - is clearly that he made a sound investment in the warranty. His smug attitude, however, earns no good will from me.

I am torn about the L322, though. I've driven them enough to develop an appreciation for their handling and comfort, I've seen them kick ass off road, and part of me really wants one. Then I'm reminded about the cold, expensive reality of owning one and I think the money would be better spent on my D1.

I didn't make it through the whole video, but most of that sounds like work the technician was upselling, not stuff the guy was complaining of. The technician probably saw that it was out of factory and Certified warranty and recommended accordingly.

Car Max *paid* for all of that.

LR should have been ashamed with the Freelander. They could care less.

Land Rover IS ashamed of the Freelander. It's a word that should never be spoken. It's a black mark we will never get off, but at least we can blame BMW.

All the stuff in that video is just normal run of the mill shit that happens to most of them. The wires are probably broken near his seat memory module causing his steering column problems. He's just a whiny bitch. Thats the way they all sound and then you see them up front buying a new one. Why the fuck would you buy a Range Rover from Carmax? Most of the really fucked up trucks are from places like that. After those people work on them they will usually never be the same again.

I've seen some fucked up shit from Car Max. They brought one in for an alignment because they couldn't get the front camber in spec. The knuckle was badly bent from an accident. Also saw another one that the right front door was hitting the body when you shut it from a poor quality accident repair. They buy cars that are accident free on Carfax, not actually accident free. They buy the cars at auction that the dealers don't want.

I don't know about that... The guy complained about broken air suspension and multiple steering column problems and they were indeed broken. Hell - at the end of the video the column locks up on him again! I'm not seeing the over-zealous tech as much as I'm seeing an undependable car.

Like I said, I didn't watch the whole video. I'm sure that Range Rover was probably some POS lease turn-in that never saw a dealership until this guy bought it.

The steering columns can be kind of confusing so I think he wouldn't have had so many repeat visits if someone else looked at that. I give you the air suspension making him have something he couldn't drive. If he drove it with one strut holding up the front of the car that finished off the other side strut. If it was a strut. His radiator was an up sell for sure but probably legit. His trans pan and conector sleeve is normal shit that was probably an upsell. But that one sounded a little out of line on the price of the repair.

But these cars are dependable. They don't get towed in for fuel pumps and alternators regularly. They make it back to the dealership without a tow truck.

We put 80k miles on my used '06 l322. A starter and battery, tires and brakes. That was all i paid for.

It was extremely dependable. I kick myself for selling it. But we needed to downsize. Sold to carmax over kbb/nada and it needed some paint work on the bumpers.

My mom bought her '06 Range Rover with 23k miles on it and has only replaced one oxygen sensor and the radiator. She had me replace the air suspension compressor a couple weeks after she bought it because she thought it was too noisy. She decided to not get a warranty which worked out because she has over 100k on it now.
