My bought his D1 when he turned 16. It’s been a great truck with only the usual stuff for a typical 180k mile Rover that you drive on a daily basis and take to/from college 9 hours away and around town. We typically find ways to fix or work around things but this new issue may be a tough one.
He was having issues with opening the rear door, even after replacing the actuator but he found that manually using the key from outside and pulling the handle would allow him to open from outside. He was on Fall break and decided to look again at what was wrong with the latch. In the process the latch lodged in the locked position while the door was open so he couldn’t close it. Nothing he did would unlock the latch so he forced the latch to an open position with a pry bar so he could get back to school. Now it is permanently locked and nothing is working so we assume we’ll have to break in from the inside by somehow getting to and backing out the striker.
Has anyone had the pleasure of doing this? If so, did you learn any tricks or have other suggestions?
