Ben's table is the original design by Marc Olivares. The amazing thing about Marc's design is that dozens of people have made "their version" of this table and a few hacks even sell them but nobody has come close to the functionality and aesthetics of the Olivares design.

Is he really short, or is the truck really tall?

Ben's table was very handy on the Dweb trip. It's a very sturdy table. I'm going to build one for the back of my rig.

I need to build one too. Let's spend a few hours collaborating on designs and then say fuck it and copy Marc's/Ben's.

Do you always stop for long enough periods of time to take out your camp table? My guess is you'll say yes just to further diminish the reason for a rear door table.

I carry a folding table too. When I'm on the trail and stop for lunch, I don't want to pull out my fold up table just to cook some cheddarwurst. The fold down table is not a pain in the ass in any sense. Easy to keep clean. Easy to use etc.

Everyone I know has built their truck for a very specific purpose and yes space is a premium. That is, as long as you like to keep a tidy truck/ packing job.

Nope. Quick stops are usually cold cuts, don't always need a hot sausage off the grille so no table needed. I envision grease splashes on the door, crumbs and veggie bits getting into the hinge and such when I say pain in ass.

Like I said, I've not seen one used in person so not trying to diminish anything. Asked what people are using for and it seems like food related activities is no1 reason. With whatever else you could think of coming in second, just like how you'd use the ground (only a few feet higher).

These hot sausages were awesome in the cold at 9000 ft or however high that place was. And flip-down table beats the shit out of unpacking the camping table for a purpose of a quick lunch.
My only reservation is a full jerrycan I keep inside the truck. On the other hand, it is just as enclosed and leak-proof as the Disco's gas tank (at the same distance).

All this talk of door tables has me wishing I was out on a trip right now using one.

Fo' real.

I remember my Isuzu Trooper II at least had a door prop.
My '04 DII slams me all the time.
But I suppose if you're folding out your "door table", you'll want to be on flat ground anyway.
