This on a '95 D1:

For some reason the rear cargo door refuses to unlock or open with either the remote or inside manual door locker. Feel like something has gotten disconnected from the manual door locker as it move up and down freely.

Any ideas on how to get this thing unlocked and fixed?

when the truck is open...meaning alarm disarmed...try putting the key in the rear door handle..sounds like the latch is on its way out or the actuator is broke....

Have you tried removing the oval Rover symbol on the outside latch housing and pushing the latch toward the front, some times they stick a little lube helps.

when you say the manual lock moves freely do you mean no resistance at all or does it feel normal like its locking and unlocking?

DOH!!! Forgot about the key lock on the outide -- I'll have to knock off some mud to try to find it. Can't say I've ever used the outside lock in the 11 years I've owned the truck, the remote key fob is just too easy.

I'll try to prise that LR emblem and see if I can determine what's gone wrong.

Thanks all!!

I get no resistance at all from the inside manual lock, so I'm thinking some thing has slipped or broken off inside. Hopefully taking off the LR emblem will reveal the problem.

Thanks!!

OK, well I tried the exterior key hole, which had zero effect on opening the rear door. I took the emblem off, which didn't really show me anything, so I removed the plastic around the inside door lever, which seems to have done something positive as I was able to get the door open at that point.

Romoved the interior speakers, door handle and interior trim. The remote actuator seems to be functional, although it seems to be missing a spring on an attached lever which would otherwise keep the locking knob up in place. Don't notice anything that would cause the door to lock and stay locked, as it is now, with the door levers having no effect. Any suggestions?

I tell you one thing, I wish Rover would've over-engineered their R380 transmissions as well as they did the plastic brackets that hold the speakers on -- those were a bitch to get off.
