OR headlamp with great battery life? Would prefer that it have 2+ light settings.

Brands, names, links preferred.

Tell me what you have/have used and why it is the best....

Ummm...it doesn't have to be THAT bright! :)

Ivan has a Cabela's headlamp from a few years ago that he uses quite a bit. It has a short in the wiring and needs to be replaced. I've used it out at the barn before and liked the brighter light option for looking out into the field. Looks like Cabelas doesn't make the same one anymore so I want to see what else is out there.

I have a cheap LED light that works ok but could be brighter--so we might look for two!

Black Diamond Spot is the one I like the best. It was great till I lost it.
I'll second the BD Spot. Its lightweight, has good output, and good batt life. Its my go to light for camping / backpacking.
I also have a Petzl Tikka. It was ok, but I broke it when it whipped it against a wall in a moment of anger, LOL.
I also have a larger Black Diamond headlamp I got off Steep and Cheap. Its a rear battery pack model. LED's and regular bulb up front. I use it for working on the Disco and around the house.

yes petzl has them http://www.petzl.com/us/outdoor/headlamps/myo-series/myo-rxp
can also program them for light output for long burn time or quick burn on full lumen setting, this can be set and charged via your pc. they have a few, but this is one i am eyeing, maybe Santa will bring it. maybe.

Yeah, they are good, I got this one for my GF and I am using the older one (blue color), I never need the highest power, I will properly blind myself. The programable feature is extra to me as I never use it. The best thing is the battery pack is at the back, so the balance is a lot better, It does eats batteries, so this version can use rechargeable AA batteries is a plus, as I recall, the older one did say do not use rechargeable batteries, but I did it anyway.

petzl or black diamond both make great head lamps. go to their websites and check em out. any good outdoor (backpacking, climbing, hiking etc) shop should have them or can order the one you want. Ive used petzl since 89 and black diamond since 98. also lifetime warranty on both of these brands.
