A little background...

'99 4.0 SE GEMS converted to 4.6 about 200 miles ago. I never got to drive the truck with the 4.0, which was pulled by the previous owners' tech for misfire codes. He thought it was a slipped liner.

Keep getting codes 1313 and 1314 - misfires for both banks/possible cat damage. There is no coolant loss, no noticeable misfire. MIL will flash every now and then at very very light throttle while driving around town, but not on the highway. Plenty of power with no misses or anything. If the mil didn't flash you would never think there was an issue. New Champion plugs, new wires, tried a different coil pack so far.

I did not have the adaptives reset yet since I am trying to figure the flashing MIL out first. Unless it could be related to the adaptives and fuel trim.....

Fuel pressure is good, but lost 10 PSI after sitting 15 minutes with a gauge this morning. Is that enough of a drop to indicate an injector issue?

Well, my gut instinct told me changing the injectors wouldn't fix anything and I was right. Installed another crank sensor as well...

I didn't reset the light and was able to log two more codes -

P0300 and P0307

It's funny I couldn't find anything wrong with the reluctor at first glance then sure enough one tab was slightly off with a slight score mark on it from the sensor. I wanted to drive a few days to make sure before posting, but all is well.

Thanks again for all your help on this project, Will.

Awhile back I bought a P38 that hadn't ran right for a year since they replaced the engine. Horrible ticking sound. I towed it home, crawled underneath and bent one of the reluctor ring tabs back. Started it right up. One of the easiest (and most profitable) fixes I ever had with a Rover.

On the engine side of the flywheel -

I have the same issue described by DOHC Holliday only P1314 & P1313 seem to come up from MIL, I was under the impression that it was a CAT issue, and if it is the reluctor on the flywheel, is there a way to get to it underneath the engine without having to remove the transmission? I've been holding on to buy the Y pipe assambly, and then I found this thread here about the same two codes that my car has, is a 98 D1 with the GEMS engine, but I would like to know if it could be solved without the new cats, any help would be apreciated

You can remove the dust cover(inspection cover?) from the lower part of the bell housing and rotate the engine by hand to inspect the teeth. The one tooth I found was slightly bent near a torque converter bolt, so I would think it happened when the engine was installed and I bumped it with a socket.

Thanks, I didn't even think about that being removable, on the transmission portion of it, I'll inspect it and see, thanks again for your help
