Is it possible to put the engine back in the car (Disco II -99) with the heads and rocker-covers and intake on the engine.

Or isn't there enough room?

In the Rave it seems that the intake should not be there?

Any experience out there on putting a full engine into the bay?

Is it the screws for the gear-box that is the PIA or is it also getting the engine into the engingebay?

TIPS:

1. Take intake off as the wireing harness is much easier to reconnect.
2. You might consider cleaning up the metal gaskets a bit.
3. Rocker covers arent a big deal, leave 'm on.
4. Leave a shop clothe over the intake manifold to avoid dropping anything down in there.
5. make sure the ignition pack bracked doesnt make it between the manifold and plenum. it is easy to do...
6. The bell housing is the most challenging, use LOOONG extension and swivel socket.

Cheers!

I recently finished dropping a 4.6 into my DII:

TIPS:

1. Take off the intake! Much easier to maneuver and replace the wiring harness. Very easy to replace.
2. Consider cleaning up or replacing the metal gaskets between the plenum and manifold.
3. Be sure the ignition pack bracket doesn't get between the plenum and manifold. It is easy to do.
4. The bell housing bolts are the biggest challenge. Pay attention to their relative position. I oriented them starting with the bottom bolts (They are the longer ones) and punched them though a piece of cardboard in their corresponding pattern. Easy when reinstalling.
5. You might consider replacing the oil seal in the torque converter; the brown plastic "washer". It costs 7.50 and is frequently the reason for a tranny failure other than overloading/overtowing.

good luck!

cheers

i just take off the fenders and hood, front bumper and remove front axle, then clip all the wires and then stare at it for a while. works every time.
