Why would you be concerned? Worse case scenario is that the synthetic eats away all the sludge and Reveals worn out seals (which causes leaking). If the seals leak they needed to be replaced anyways.T&M Rover said:Is no one concerned about switching to synthetic mobil 1 or Royal Purple with all of these high miles on there trucks.

what about all the sludge that gets loosened up and clogs your pickup starves your motor of oil and then you kill it how many people run it for less than 3000 to check to make sure there pickup is not clogged or getting clogged
I use the Rotella T 5w40 synthetic and don't have any problems with it. I started using it around 60k and now have about 81k.Disco0311 said:Any ideas about rotella 5w40? on a disco with 63000 miles?
It has been in my rover for 2000 miles so far. 60K miles on the truck.Disco0311 said:Any ideas about rotella 5w40? on a disco with 63000 miles?
T&M Rover said:The way i see it and have seen it in cars. If you start with synthetic and stay with synthetic you are ok . If you start with synthetic and switch to nonsynthetic your still fine. if you start with nonsynthetic and switch to sythetic before 30000. You should be ok mabe some gaskets to change as long as you were good to the truck and changed the oil regularly. After 30000 i would start to be weary of switching to synthetic.
