Hey folks, been lurking around here for quite a while as I have 2 buddy's Spydrjon and Stu454 who have discos. I'm look at a 92 RRC County that looks very promising for me but has 2 mechanical flaws that I am not to sure about. The first is the fuel guage doesn't work it shows empty all of the time My first thought is the fuel pump/Sender. The second issue is what sounds like the passenger side manifold either has a crack or the gasket has gone bad as it sounds like it is sputtering on the passenger side. It has the normal exterior leaks no interior leaks and very minimal rust only in the normal locations. The only light on is the check engine light which I am assuming is from the manifold. The owner unfortunatley has moved to canada but his brother is selling the car for him but doesn't know to much about it. The price is about right for me under $2k. Primary use will be a trail rig with an occasion daily commute. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Easy fixes, just a couple hours a weekend under the hood :D. I don't know if there's an official buying guide, but search the BB for 'rust', you'll see the recommendations where to check the truck. The gauge could be bad, or wiring, or sender. If the manifold isn't cracked, it's probably the exhaust gaskets.

Thank you all for the advice, Me and Stu looked the truck over pretty well yesterday and the rust was very minimal lift gate hood and around the window frame. The floor boards looked absolutley awesome compared to some of the others I have looked at. I've already got him down to $1800 trying to make sure everything is in line with the vehicle as far as car fax and title history. If everything goes well I should have the rangie by friday and hopefully less then $1800 :)

Want to thank you guys, and let you know that I picked up the Rangie this evening for $1700 :) Now I get to fully enjoy the true love hate relationship of owning a Land Rover. Be prepared for questions but only after I have done a search :D
