It was either Bill Burke or Jim Allen that did a *study* on winch loads, and they were rarely as high as people like to think...

Oh, I know. But I like to give folks the benefit of the doubt. ;)
And I know, on very rare occasions, I've loaded mine to capacity. Though typically I rig a snatch block looooong before I do that.
