Saw the $G LR3 bumper is out now.

Can't say that I'm a fan. I like the size, but I think the RTE fits the truck better. It just looks odd to me - kind of how a slimline looks odd on a D1/D2....

For far they're 0/2. Maybe there's still hope for the rear bumper, but for some reason, I'm not holding my breath.

I just was looking at the SG bumper as well. I must say I think it looks considerably better than the RTE one. The RTE bumper just looks out of place on the LR3. It reminds me of those giant bumpers that rednecks stick on the front of full-size trucks. The finish quality just doesn't look to be there.

I agree with lunchbox on this one. If I had an LR3 and was buying an aftermarket bumper for it I would have to go with the SG. Like he said it looks more "finished", and I like the fact that the blade is smaller (thinner).. I like how the ARB looks on the LR3 but it's huge, like the RTE..

I'm not a huge fan of the RTE slimline bumper look on a d1/d2 either but to me the SG bumper on the LR3 doesn't have that "too thin" feel to it (I think the same thing about SG bumpers on a d1/d2).. The SG looks like it shows a little more tire then either the RTE or ARB which I like.

I don't like the position of the winch tray on any of them, but I don't think I could come up with anything better...

Well, I know that LR3 bumper pictured is not finished for a fact. And I hope that SG bumper is not finished. The SG does not have recovery mounts or a skid plate....

But I think these reason you're seeing "more tire" is because the SG truck is in "extended mode".

Here is the same RTE truck and bumper at my house the other day. It's still not finished, but the truck is in "extended mode". Even though the picture is shitty, you can see a lot more of the tire.

But looking dead on, I like the RTE. The SG bumper is solid. The RTE has a cut out.

I think the cut out matched the grill. You have wide holes all the way down the grill, and RTE has extended those into the bumper. I think that's a nice touch, and it also opens up access to the winch. It also allows you to remove and replace the winch without removing the bumper.

The first picture is when Tami picked her truck up from RTE.

The second pic is after I moved the winch solenoid and added a light bar.

The third pic is with the lights installed.

I'm also not liking the thin lip on the SG bumper. I hate it, but there is a whole lot of shit to protect on the front the LR3. But I'm pretty sure you get a bumper to help protest your truck. Just a guess.

I don't have a picture right now, but the radiator is very vulnerable on the LR3. That's why Rasta, and others, make guards like this. https://www.expeditionexchange.com/rasta4x4/

The RTE bumper does a better job of protecting this area. It does not completely cover this area, but it does a better job than the SG bumper.

Ther Photo is not that bad still get the feel.

The SG bumper will also have 360 swivel D-rings on it and an aluminum skid plate. It will come in 2 versions with and without brush bar.

Cheers

The other thing i'm wonderingabout is how much the skid will cover. The radiator gaurds may be more important now with the SG and oor the RTE bumpers.

You are correct, the photos do not show the skid plate nor the recovery rings, we'll get those posted soon. However I am the one who took the photos and I assure you the SG truck is not in extended mode, nor with any kind of lift.

But I do know that none of the RTE bumpers pics posted are the "final design". Jordan has some pretty slick ideas to apply to the final product. I think that will add to the "finished look" some are looking for.

I guess I'm just imagining the SG bumper with the skid installed. I think that's going to look dumb. I think the skid will look added, or an after thought. To me, it just looks like it's going to hang down like a ball sack blowing in the wind. It reminds me of the people who run an RTE slimline and add a huge skid plate to cover their drag link.

The LR3 did not give us much to work with. At all. So I know it's hard to come up with a badass bumper. Honestly, I don't think either RTE or SG have nailed it. But I do like one better than the other.

Yeah, I hate those 360* things. Over time, they end up looking like shit and the little metal clips that retain the shackle end up getting damaged. Not only do the shackles end up looking bad, but they end up beating the piss out of the finish of the bumper.

I'll look for some pics to show you my point.

....but please tell me the aluminum skid will be finished in black.

LOL, yeah, ok. Either that truck is in extended mode, or those are skate board wheels.

Here is the sideview of an LR3 in "extended" vs "normal". Notice the space between the tire and the fender.

I think what kills the RTE bumper is that small extra triangle just ahead of the tire. It ruins the flow. It looks like an after thought. I also think the recovery points look rough. I prefer the shackle mounts that EE sells over any other. The d-rings look nice, but I don't like them rattling around.

You have four modes on the LR3 Extended Mode, Off-Road Height, Normal Driving Height and Access Height. The photo was taken in Off-Road Height and not in Extended Mode.

The wheels are the ones that came on it when it rolled off of the show room.
