sealing the intake plenum

Hello Discovites,

I have taken my intake assembly apart and can not see any evidence of any sealant having been used.

Can someone tell me if there should be some type of sealant used to seal the intake plenum assembly (the half with the trumpet tubes) to the intake manifold.

Also should sealant be used on the plenum cover (to seal the cover to the base with the trumpet tubes sticking up out of it) as well?

its opinion...you can use a hylomar sealant if you wish but a lot of the time we see units that have used absolutely nothing.

I think the factory used some sort of lock-tite type substance. The damn thing was glued on to the intake on my truck. I put it back together with a thin coat of hylomar.

yep LR does not spec anything, but i have used hylomar each time i have removed it. i just can't imagine those two mating surfaces being that perfect, so i used a thin layer.

Hmm, my manual says to use loctite 577... (RAVE CD - Workshop Manual - 2nd Edition - NAS)

I've always used hylomar, tho'
