To update things. I am still happy.

And I am getting sliders with nerfs that drop to let the wife and kids in....got a supergas lift of 2" and will be putting 265/75-16 treadwright warden (e)'s on her too. Nate is adding mudflap mounts to the sliders too at my request as in the winter, it is nicer to the next guy to block spray .....

And, I ordered a custom rack. To look like a SD in a way (tiered/roof following) and a Hannibal (single level, more aero...less noise).

Will post here once they arrive and get installed.

For the group: how do you get the stock plastic side pieces off the truck "correctly".

Nate Bottorf is doing very well. The stuff rocks.

I like it and apparently in this world, many others do. Great guy. Good stuff.

He'll do custom work too...

Anyway, any advice on the side bar (oem plastic) removal would be most welcome.

;)

thats too thick for west of the mississippi for my tastes, but nice work I bet.

my slim rte scrapes bottom edges enough

the idea behind rte paint is simple, touch it up myself with a can, and it blends perfectly...

powder coat would be worthless unless its a show rig, in which case go galvy.
I dont know can you just touch up a powder coated rte bumper with a rattle can and have it blend?

if youre gonna beat the snot outta it and scuff, try to ding and yank geniuses out all day with something get something that can take abuse. this is a good area to over build, not overhang. my stuff gets scraped up, rusts, then it needs to be sanded and and painted, here at the garage without getting fancy

on arb bumpers, they arent fully boxed like my rte; I havent wheeled a hard trail with a single arb equipped rig that didnt get tweaked on my run with them, they get progressively worse unless youre just using them for school and tow duty

... trails from az to utah to co will provide easy adjustments, to your arb bumpered discos , free

I lived in NJ too, I know what east coast and appalachian and ozark wheelin is like, you break alot less shit on that type of rock and terrain, its less grippy. rock rash here is serious, its sandpaper like slick rock crap

He's expanding and doing well....huge value. Great stuff....having close friends die unexpectedly and in the midst of a huge group-buy on LRR stinks.

FWIW, I like the way his stuff looks.

I can think of 4 or 5 trucks that have ARB bumpers that wheel the same trails you run Gem and have zero issues. They don't get tweeked, or bent or whatever. If you prep the metal properly, powered coating will easily survive being bashed against rocks. If it does chip, paint it and be done with it. Nate's stuff is well built and gives you another option.

nice bumper, i think the recovery points are in a poor location due to the angle they are at, any load will not be distributed as evenly as it could
if you are going to leave them on the angled portion maybe you should rotate them 90 degrees

Well.

Update. Bumper is off my truck and a rovertym is going on in a bit.

Rusted a bit, but nothing a bit of paint could not handle. It handled a very violent impact well...nuff said. No issues with integrity of the welds.

But, I paid Nate some money in 11/2010 for a rack and side rails, 50% of what it was to cost. He gave me an amazing price. ... Nothing has come to me yet. I have asked him for a refund over a dozen times, invoiced him and such.

So, I cannot recommend his company at this point.

A few weeks is one thing, over 6 months is beyond even unreasonable. Buyer beware.

He'd do great if he could get his customer service up to par. His product did well....when it counted...saved my truck...but you cannot make money making bumpers if you cannot supply bumpers.

Anyway, if anyone knows Nate, please ask him to refund the guy who did the bumper review and wanted a rack and side nerf/step rails please. Thanks.

Nate's done pretty well with that so far. It's easy; you just accept payment for products that you have no intention of shipping. Then you run away to Italy.

Piece of cake.

You must have missed all those threads about him stealing from people. There is a lawsuit forming against him, maybe you should look into joining in...
