Slipped liner.

Well it looks like the #1 cylinder liner slipped, time for a new engine. Looks like a good chance to upgrade to the 4.6. The funny part is that the car was running tip top until a heater hose blew.

I always worry if my cars start running to well as it usually preceades something big failing. And in some shameless self promotion i have a gems 4.6 for sale right now. Good luck getting back on the road.

I appreciate that, but I already have one in the works. It kinda sucks but it also gives me a reason to upgrade without the wife questioning why. It'll be interesting to feel the difference between the two...

Anyways. To answer the other questions, about 125k on the motor, and minor coolant loss maybe a quart very 2 months or so. The motor ran so well, and it got really good mileage! No codes, no misfires, nothing except that minor coolant loss. Now a 4.6, I'm kinda excited about that...

So what happened though? The heater hose lost coolant and caused an overheat which made the liner slip? Did the truck actually overheat first?

The heater hose burst about 2 blocks from my house. It must've been running hot although the temp gauge never moved and it was running great, even up until the tear down it still ran great. The liner slipped far enough down to where it was sucking in and burning coolant. The 4.6 should be in and done by Monday or so. Lucky I walk to work.
