I suspect the cats in my 02 Disco need to be replaced, the truck is way too slow up in the mountains. Going up to Eisenhower tunnel is pretty much pedal to the metal and 55-60 mph at most. Can someone else in Colorado let me know how their truck behaves up in the mountains?

At over 11,000 feet and a grade of 1.64%, most natural aspirated engine will probably struggle going through that tunnel. I know I can't compare Colorado to Florida, but what's the perfroamce like driving on city streets?

Thats good to know. My cats rattle a little when cold so I was thinking maybe they are causing a restriction in my exhaust system. The truck just passed emissions with flying colors so I am a bit reluctant to replace functional cats. I can live with a slight rattle for a few minutes on cold starts.

Driving around Denver it feels OK, slow but tolerable.

Make sure the rattle isn't the heat shield on the cat.

Driving a heavily laden Range Rover Classic (heavily laden = 4 people, 4 sets of skis, 4 sets of ice climbing gear, 3 cases of beer, roof box) in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest I keep the truck in 3rd gear and mosey along calmly while other cars zip by. Sometimes other drivers chuckle at me while they go past, but I've had the last laugh as I've stopped to offer to tow them out of snowdrifts on the other side of the pass.

Downshift, take your time, enjoy the ride.

Sorry. I don't have that problem. The turbo just spools up faster in the thin air creating adequate boost. I hardly notice a difference.

That's why I'm always in the poor house. Once I finish with it, I will be able to save all kinds of money. Unless I find another useless hobby. I don't have a boat yet.

Going up to eisenhower, mine is pretty damn slow too. Although that's where the sport mode button comes in handy. Gets it at least to Semi-Normal.

These vehicles are slow, make sure everything is in top working order. Check plugs ,wires. and get a new air filter, clean the MAF with the proper MAF cleaner spray. May boost the performance a bit. Check for melted cats, fill it with premium gas. Run synthetic in the diffs and tranfer case, anything to rob less friction. you might want to run tranny in sport mode as it may help going up hills to keep it in lower gears longer.
