03 disco.
head gasket done 500 miles ago, truck was running great.
i was missing little coolant, and just wanted to top it.
now as soon as you hit 25-30 the truck vibrate and theres no power.
theres is power up to that point.
i tried to bleed the coolant system again, i get very little to no stream from the return line(from the radiator to the expansion tank), before it was flowing just fine.
and i get white foam in the expansion tank too.

Thanks,
Leo

no oil in the water, and no water in the oil, i did it, used arp head studs, torqued down to spec, machined heads.
it wont over heat, i drove it for like 10 miles today.

Well it sounds like a head-gasket to me. Run a compression check on it.
It sounds very much like a head-gasket, I hope I am wrong.

what can i say, the studs just looked like the better option, maybe i was wrong.
theres no CEL, when stationery i can rev the engine hard, no vibration.
i torqued them at 65lbs and used the torque lube that came with them from ARP.

Just take a deep breath, I know how frustrating it will be to go through all that work just to have to redo it all over, But this is how you learn. Again I would run a compression test on it.
The loss of power, needing to refill your coolant and foam in the coolant after a head-gasket job, I think you are going to be redoing the job. This time ask questions form other Rover owners who have done the job with success and take your time.
In the mean time be very careful driving it, and don't trust the Rovers temp gauge.

Just one more question, did the engine overheat at all before the head gasket job?

it did overheat, maybe 3 times before the head gasket job.
i really dont mind doing it all over, its no big deal, sure it sucks, but what can you do.
the thing that running in my mind is:

- why wasn't the job successful, i followed rave, machined the heads, torqued to spec...
- is it possible that i have a slipped liner, so doing it again will not help, i didnt pressure check the block when the heads were out.

Thanks,
Leo

If the package is ever found by FedEx and Customs and Border Protection, I'll have a pile of headsets Monday.

It took our government 10 years to find Benny boy. good luck with the parts!:p

WOW! I think it's time for a new engine.

Attention all Rover owners if your engine has ever over heated don't do any tests just replace it. Give me a fucking break.

To the OP
Check compression.
Get yourself a block tester kit to see if you have any exhaust fumes in your coolent system.
I assume you did bleed the engine correctly. If you did you should have had good heat flow from your heater. Did you?

Okay, I have stated that he needs to check it out first. And I am sure he is not going to take my word for it.. But 3 over heats on this engine and I will be surprised if there has not been more then just gaskets damaged.

JohnB, do you kiss your mom with that mouth???

Is it something in the air today?

Compression testing won't show what's failed, just that something has failed.

Block gas test wont' show what's failed, just that something has failed.

Pressure testing of the block doesn't always show anything.

Once these engines start to have problems, it's a crap shoot of the highest order.

Anyone needs a starting place. I always start with a compression test...............

I never knew my birth parents. There was a car accident. My birth mother was incinerated, and I only survived because her smoking carcass had formed a protective cocoon of slaughtered human effluence. A Belgian man and his fifteen year-old love slave were looting the accident scene, and came across a blood soaked baby, moi. They raised me to be evil. You know, that old chestnut.

it was overheating cause of a bad head gasket, exhaust gases were pressurizing the cooling system.
