Just tech in the tech section. Keep fluff for General.
Seems we get a lot of people lately posting pictures and tech in the wrong places.
Then we get the whiners that say we're mean and want Dweb changed to suit them.

I agree with tech in tech and general in general...

I think the incorrect posting location and the resulting whining is a result of people not even taking the time to see what Dweb is all about.

x2. but i don't see what there is to change. i had to get on a ford explorer forum recently, and trust me, we don't know how good we have it here. the percentage of people on here who know what they are talking about vs. the people who dont is alot better than most sites. i just had to learn to ignore the people who post what they had for breakfast or other pointless shit. and not to mention of few of the village idiots give some good material to laugh at.

There was a time when people did not dare to post unless they knew what they are talking about. That mentality seems to have gone away. Are there just fewer "enforcers" to shut these people down?

don't know...maybe a couple of guys to help with monitoring the site to move shit when it's posted in the wrong spot. Not a moderator, but a little traffic control...it has grown over the years, and maybe we can provide some help to Ho and Axle with the traffic control...

and fuck tards like spydrjon need to shut the fuck up...this is the classic problem, if you don't have anything to add that will help then keep your trap shut...he's probably one of the morons posting pic's of his tire 3 inches in the air in the tech section because can't follow some basic guidelines...

I dont think there is much you can do past trying to maintain a clear cut attitude how to respond to bull shit and that is:smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:

I have come to the conclusion that the newbies can think I am a complete ass hole for going after them and I could care less because the people that come for real information and the regulars will make up thier own minds based on the worth they get from my posts(if any)

I have recently stepped up my ridicule of the newbie dumb shit posters because I want this place to get back to what it once was and should still stand for...quality rover information policed by the community it serves.

Keep the tech in the tech and the fluff in the fluff..

My biggest thing is people should use the damn search button before asking the same ass questions all the time.. Has to be well over 200 threads about "should I get a 2 inch lift or 3 inch lift for my D1" or "what size tire will fit my truck".. I have yet to have an issue that was tech related that I couldn't find the answer to by searching the threads that have already been posted either in the current tech section or the archives..

I know, I know, I keep forgetting that this is the day and age of the instant handout mentallity...

I think that part of that comes from the "sorta" new members. Those who have now been around long enough to have some knowledge and are eager to share but don't have the history to know what topics have been discussed multiple times. I myself probably fall into this catagory.

edit: I was refering to the people who reply to the "What tire will fit my truck" questions.

As a relative noob, I did the same, then I got treated like crap. Now I'm doing just fine in this little microcosm.

I don't mind seeing new rehashes of the same old questions, because search can be complicated to get right. Natural language processing is not an easy thing to implement. One bad term can really throw your results off.

Noobs are good for beating. It helps them acclimate. Sure, some people go over the line in terms of language, and I doubt they'd do it so much in person. And sometimes people have too thin skin. But if in the end, you're better off than you were when you came here, then it's all good. And collectively we have a better group.

Bottom line -- There are always going to be people unhappy with Dweb (or any forum in general) ... It used to be that Kyle was too mean, now it's that Dan is too mean... get over it..

There will always be newbies asking idiotic questions, just don't respond if the questions bother you.. There will always be web wheelers & too much money to spend people also..

Discoweb has always taken care of itself, Newbies come and ask questions, after a while they learn a little bit and start responding to the new wave of Newbies, then they get sick of answering repetitive questions..
