So here's the deal:
I had surgery on the 25th of Feb. In the mail today I received a letter from a supposed 'surgical assistant' claiming I owed $200 for services rendered during my surgery. The letter arrived in an envelope that looked like my Grandma had sent it. I started to get suspicious when I saw that the letter was dated for 1 APRIL and the envelope was post-marked for 27 MAR. I just called the number on the letter, and not to surprise the person who answered the phone was not the woman whose name was on the letter. There is some other weird shit in the letter, but that is the most obvious stuff.
So, what kind of legal leg to I have to stand on with this? Obviously the hospital were the surgery was performed leaked out my info to someone or something like that, but what can I really do? I'm going to give the Sherriff's office where I live a call on Monday, but I really don't think that will do much. Do I get a lawyer and go after the guilty parties or what?
