Cynical enough to imagine if that was the case the info would be recorded by the vehicle computer and used by the dealer to deny your warranty claim because you exceeded the recommended wading depth.

I can just hear it now: "Im sorry Sir, but your new Defender TOLD you not to try and cross that stream, you're going to need a new engine." And, "You're replacement spikes come to a total of $9,845.50 with parts and labor." Or probably my favorite is the news reports of all the wrecks because morons are driving to bed bath and beyond and their kids foot accidentally kicks the "Spikes" button and they are sent spinning out of control.
