Does anyone here work for Sprint/Nextel? I am trying to updrade my phone/phone plan and am getting nowhere with them. It is actually more expensive for me to upgrade my phone (even though I have a $150 "credit") than it would be to sign up for new service and get the phone. I am out of contract right now and they don't seem to want to do anything to help. I have taken it to their "escalation manager" and she was just as unhelpful and rude as the first person I spoke with. I've been with them or 7 years and have never upgraded my phone, and the phone I am asking for is $49 for new customers and $99 if I want to upgrade so I don't think I am asking for the world. I'm about to go to another carrier just on principal. Thought it was worth a try to see if anyone here works for Sprint corporate.

Leave'em, they suck... They screwed my bill up for 6 months strait... Go with AT&T or Verizon.... Customer for 7 years? You deserve respect dammit!

I personally have a sprint/nextel phone, and the place i work uses nextels instead of walkie-talkies, so it's very convenient.
I called about upgrading my phone, since it's 4 years old, and the battery doesn't last too long.
I have the $150 credit.
Then again, new customers ALSO have a $150 credit.
Which means no one has a credit, since everyone has a credit.
Bonqueefa, the "customer service" agent with whom I spoke, was not really very helpful, either.

I'm just going to wait for it to die completely, then I'll get an iPhone & add another line to the account I already have for my son's iPhone.
fuck sprint.

Tell customer service you are going to cancel and go with another carrier if they can't giver you the new customer offer. They will xfer you to a cust retention ("cancellation") dept and give you the new customer discount.

I've been getting about 30 spam picture mails a day on sprint lately. I called them up and I think they turned off all messaging.... yeah

That's what I did, and they basically said they wouldn't do anything more than the price posted online. Bastards, oh well....looks like this is my last month of sprint/nextel.

I've spoke with a friend of mine ( he is the Reg Director of Sales for the Mid Atlantic Area ) and pretty much told me the same thing you were told.

I guess with their Corporate business they don't care much for individuals.

sprint has always been good to us, but my dad used to run one of their call centers. The only reason we're still with them is because we still get the discounts we used to when he was employed at that level.

That being said, I have had to fight for any phone/plan upgrade. I always "zero" out of the automated stuff, and immediately ask to speak to a supervisor. I don't waste my time with the low level people, they can't do anything anyways except type in info and other minor things. Go straight to the people who have the authority to give you a smoking deal. I always use the "customer for years" card.

I personally want an iphone, and sprints coverage is TERRIBLE. I'll be switching eventually.

I did the same thing with T-Mobile, I was unhappy with a charge I got... customer for 10 years, paid bill on time, etc.. got escalated, they wouldn't do anything for me, so I had them cancel my account and I went with AT&T and got an iPhone and couldn't be happier.

Sprint sucks. Period. At least in my area, Verizon/Alltel has the business locked up.
