Just replaced my old wonky starter with a new one from britishstarters.com!! Easily the biggest pita i've done in my 8+ years with my 95 Discovery! But totally worth it, the new one was much easier to get in than the old one was to get out. My baby starts so much faster and , seemingly easier, now with the gear reduction starter! Just wanted to put this out there for anyone questioning about this type of starter. Do it, you won't be disappointed!

I had to put my jack stands under the front frame to get the britishstarters.com in place, but other than that I'm happy with it.

im happy with mine cause it starts the truck. i want to know if the gear reduction starter is any better.

I would never go back to the OEM starter, these have enough torque to spin the engine filled with 15w-40 at 25 below zero...plus they sound groovey as all hell.

I just put one in from britishstarters.com. It's faster than the original, lifetime guarantee, good guy to deal with. It's only been in for a week but so far, I give it a 10. It's been darned cold here but it spins like crazy.

It's hard to describe the sound. It's a bit louder and higher pitch. The original sounds kinda lazy, the britishstarters one sounds like it's angry. Even in really cold weather it starts with less crank time. I'm a cheapskate and I say it's worth it to never have to worry about it again.

p.s. I could NOT get myself into a position to get the old one out with jacks in my driveway. I had to pay my local shop to do it on the lift. It makes sense that they are so high- they are protected from water and impact. Makes 'em a bitch to change. Don't forget to put that heat shield back on or the exhaust manifold will fry it.
