Mine had a CB mouted to the roof with long screws-the CB died so I pulled it out-could hear the damn thing anyway. The PO did a nice job of putting a mount for the antena on the side of the roof so I'll keep that in place for the next CB attempt. The D90 console box will fit in the series-the seat box is pretty much the same.

I mounted the radio in the wife's three door SIIA 109 vertically on the bulkhead behind the middle seat. There is a bit more room in the 109 compared to the 88, but I think it might fit. The radio is out if sight, but the seat back is just tilted forward to fiddle with the radio buttons.

we would make a box above the windscreen that would span between the doors. only 10-12 inches deep, whatever would fit a radio. then you could also mount your cb up there and even have some storage space. it always worked out well cause everything was up and out of the way.

thanks for the ideas. I will have a soft top on it, so the roof mount is out. It had a bootyfab cubby in the middle that is just too big, but I may end up making something smaller and similar to replace it if no other idea strikes me.

okay, painting is about half done on the outside. the interior will need to wait until this spring. I bought wipers from RN because they looked like they had funky curved arms, but the new ones do not fit. Do I need to replace the arms or just source new wipers?

IF I decide to put the third seat in the front are the frames hard to find? I see several places to get the cushions and my seats are junk.

Blueboy still has 235s Trac Edges which were imho the best BFG combo tire.

Abso-freakin'-lutely. Why BFG discontinued this fine tire is a mystery.... The 88" still wears 'em.

Cheers

For wiper arms/blades go with an ANCO adjustable arm and 10" blades - which are kinda hard to find these days. There's an adapter on the Rover's wiper shaft; remove it. Now the ANCO arm kit will have it's own adapter with two set screws in it. The central bore needs to be enlarged a very small amount to fit the Rover's shaft, like .01" which you could do with an appropriate drill, a Dremel or a rat-tail file.

I got to touch Jen's knobs:D
Thanks for the package, you had to order them from THAILAND? Wow. Here is the paint so far. I will be out of town this weekend pulling more stuff off the Classic, then it is time to dig into some of the wiring.

Ill say this chuck...from the pictures, it doesn't look awful.

I have to take a series from periwinkle blue to fire engine red. Im going to try and match the rutland red from the DII. I wonder how hard that will be.

prep is the biggest hurdle, then sand, prime, paint, sand, paint, etc. I still have the top to do, it is just a drab chalky white. Hope to put a soft top on this summer.

This is where my lack of patience kicks in....there's no way Ill be able to stand doing all the "proper" prep work. It'll probably look ok though.

That's true, the PO of my IIa had it painted and the shop did a very good job of prep, the paint is smooth and shiny so much so it looks new. I've been ignoring (as best as my OCD will allow) it for a year just to knock the shine off.

took it to run errands today, how do you people get anything done after answering all the questions? I got stopped twice on the way in to the store and twice on the way out. People seemed to notice the Classic but not like this.:patriot:
