OME felt kinda loose to me after I put my 2" lift on vs. the old stock one. Got better with the new 265/75s, but still made the wheel much more sensitive, and felt like it would jump left or right due to ruts in the road more.

That's not the damper, that's the suspension geometry changing because of the lift.

Well, thanks anyway for the replies. I have had a Bilstein for about 4 years and finally wiped it out 2 weekends ago. I havent had any problems with it.
I just bought new drag link and tie rod from Keith and am finally going to relocate the damper.

Just out of curiosity; why does the Bilstein need to be compressed when installing and the OME doesn't?

BTW, OME is already ordered.

the one i saw was blue plastic..

Installed on a Disco? When I ordered it the picture on the site had a blue plastic boot but the one I received had a yellow metal sleeve. I ordered it from the UK so that may have been the difference....??

my opinion after bashing my track rod & damper on a rock at 25mph was 'damn it i ruined that fucker' and it was brand new....or so i thought. (fucking tall grasses)

guys at my local shop managed to bend the rod on the damper back perfectly & it still functions like new. unlike the track rod that had to be scraped!

if i had any real advice it would be to spend the loot on the relocation kit and not deal with the lame ass position that it comes in normally. unless you already have done that. then i'd say bilstein is the way to go, but seriously i doubt there is much a difference.

Are the OME or Bilstein any better that the OEM?

after 13 year my OEM was like rusted can with a popsicle stick hanging out.

plus when you hold the 2 in your hands you say why would i what this crapper on there.

it seems to do it's job tho (the OEM).
