Steering wheel was off 180*. I turned the drag link enough to get the wheel where it is suppose to be. Now when I go to turn the wheel I only get about 1.5 to 2 turns to the left but bunches to the right. Needless to say the turning radius to the left sucks. The pitman arm lines up via alignment hole with wheels pointing straight. Steering stops are not an issue. Stock wheels offset etc.. New OME stabilizer in stock location. Any help is greatly appreciated. I know I am missing something.

Cheers,

Mike

ps truck was in a wreck front passenger side but frame is straight.

count the turns lock to lock and turn it to the center. If the pitman arm isn't centered, you need to move it. If the steering wheel isn't centered, you need to move it as well. Just a guess, it might be something simple. Is the steering shaft in good shape?

Thanks guys. I think I have it straightened out now. The wierd thing is when I picked up the truck I noticed the tre's almost all the way in the drag link and the steering wheel was off 180*. My first thought was to turn them out to get the steering wheel correctly oriented. When I did this the pitman arm wasn't centered. This morning I checked the pitman arm with a dowel to make sure it was centered. It is. I then made sure the wheels were straight. At that point I removed the lower steering u-joint section and centered the wheel up, then did all the fine adjustments. It is now turning left to right equally. The only thing that bothers me is I only have a thread or two left on the tre's. Oh well it is straight and equal now. I think I will remove the pitman arm when I upgrade to HD links, recenter it and the wheel once more but for now I am okay with it.

Cheers,

Mike

whats the track rod look like?

It's round and straight with a stabilizer attatched to it......just kidding. It looks normal to me as far as the amount of threads showing etc. I assume someone messed with the pitman arm at one time or another. I'll get is sqared away when I upgrade. It is accetable for now after lots of tinkering.
