So, I dismantled my center console a couple of months ago to free up a stuck CDL on my D1. Got it freed up, but on re-assembly I couldn't get the boot back around that wire frame in the hole for the hand brake.
Any simple trick I am missing? I tried for like half an hour before just getting too frustrated and giving up. It's about time I fixed it right.

Thanks for any help.

The wire frame thing is like a spring and it should stay on the boot. Take the wire thing out of the hole in the console and attach the boot to it.

1. Turn the boot inside out before putting it back on. 2. Slide the small hole end over the handle, put the little rubber o-ring on it, then 3. push the boot back over the handle, 4. clip the wire thing back in. Put the botton back in first though. Good luck.

Wasn't sure I made any sense, but hopefully, you can figure it out. Just remember that the boot goes on inside out first over the handle. The o-ring needs to be down on the handle before trying to put the boot on.
