So you are a virgin! And a thin skinned one to boot!

I never said that, but you can think what you want. I just don't see how being a Software Developer has anything to do with being a virgin.

I can't prove I am or not, nor can you so it is stupid to talk about.

To clue you in, questions such as yours will almost always result in personal attacks.

I mean really, did you need to ask what to do when you get stuck in the mud.

The answer you are looking for is. Get out of the mud....

grow a set...it's the internet

That is an age old excuse for people who would not have the balls in a face to face situation to make the comments they do in the internet.

The internet is no excuse for rudeness.

That being said, if all of my post had been read people would know the exact reason for my question, as I posted later on.
---

It should also be noted, that my approach worked very well! I was able to get the information I needed to become a better driver and had many helpful hints and tips.

I did not come to this board cussing and swearing at you guys calling you guys morons, or anything the like. But quite frankly some of the responses I have received would suggest that I had went to your house and spit in your face.

Who cares if Zeek is real or not???

If he is, he deserves answers to his questions without getting beat up.

If he is not, well he is already a miserable person. I mean.... think about it... how much of a life would someone have if they got their jollies out of attempting to taunt someone on a bulletin board. That would be pretty darn pitiful, right??

In any case, as anyone who has ever gotten "stuck" knows, it is a very good subject.

Every bit of knowledge gained is just another tool to add to your mental toolbox.

You never know when something that you just happened to read here might be the very thing that helps you get out of a bad mess. Even seasoned off roaders can learn something new. ;)

Furthermore, how many of us only read here before we had the courage to jump in with the lions and begin to post... asking the most minor questions???

I always try to keep in mind that someone who has not yet found that courage may be reading these threads... just trying to get their own questions answered. That is why this "public" bulletin board is so cool... when any of us post we are sharing info with everyone... not just the person who asked the question.

Doesn't anyone remember back when "babystep" situations were a huge obstacle to you??

Zeek, Your spelling and grammar have drastically improved as your replies continue. I think the turning point was when you became a computer programmer.

Zeek, it's nothing personal, I have just been bred (by Discoweb) this way. I see moronic posts, and I just can't help myself. You've had it coming, friend. You practically begged for it.

No, I assure you, my comments would be the same in person. You would probably get the gist in fewer words than it has taken on this forum, though, what with voice inflection and body language and all...

I am not sure where you got that.

But I did just get done reading about 90% of all of your post. And I think I have figured you out.

1) You are a college kid.
2) You you have put shit load of work in to making your rig what it is.
3) You have great pride in LR.
4) You are self aware of your post count, and feel that a higher count means more.

That being said, I feel that I must have put the LR name to shame in some way in which you have automatically taken offense too.

Thus let me start over.

LR trucks are the best.
I in no way represent the LR community, I am a n00b.
I love my DISCO II!
I have a low post count :(

---

As stated above, I am a n00b. I don't know how to drive my truck, or even know what it is capable of doing. I have been lurking here for a while reading many post, trying to learn as much as I can.

To tell you the truth, I am scared shitless of doing anything in my Rover!
The story of me being stuck in the mud was true, as it was the very first attempt of doing anything other than drive on the road that I have made.

I know it sounds silly, but I thought trying to drive on soft stuff (this case mud) would be less likely to damage my Rover. But after the responses I find that it is not so safe, and is not as easy as it sounds.

As my original post stated, I got stuck in the mud. I had no clue as to anything I could do, and my description is just that. Stuck in the mud. I did not know at the time I could turn my tires back and forth to help get me out. I did not know that I could have gotten some carpet to put under the tires. I did not know that there we "rules" that should be followed such as; have recovery gear, take a buddy, and don't be a dick.

Also, much information about what type of recovery gear, rig modifications, and training was given to me. I know have a good amount of new information to study.

Although my original question must have sounded so stupid, it was legit. Yes I knew I should get out of the mud. Yes I knew I should not try it again.

Once again, thanks for providing great info!

-Zeek.

You remind me of this guy who works like 60+ hours/week at this little hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant where I used to live. When he would come to get our drink orders, he would only say, "Would you like some coffee tea please ma'am sir?" Same line for YEARS! Silly man...but you're in software.

#1 recommendation -- Find some fellow LR owners and go out and learn from them.. Your local dealership most likely has a couple of events a year on teaching basics to offroading (drive w/ two feet, dont wrap thumbs around steering wheel, slow as possible-fast as needed, etc..).. or find a local club and join up with them.. most people are very kind to a newbie..

Zeek-

Welcome to Disco Web... Everyone here is typically VERY helpful, you just came at it all wrong. Allow me to help you out in a couple of areas.

Its a good idea when legitimately asking for help to offer as much information as possible. Also try to share the things you have tried that didnt work. Doing this will kick in the "people help those who help themselves" mantra and everyone will start pushing you towards your goal (or winching you, as it were....)

The possiblity that you are a plant from another LR forum, or Jeep forum, is something that everyone is sceptical of. Typically new users dont just jump up with such a sweeping and entangling question. It looks like a setup for a joke... you gatta admit.

I am in Houston as well! I live 3 blocks from the Rover Shoppe in Midtown. I am actually sitting at the Houston Technology Center at the corner of Bagby and W. Grey right now... :seeya:

I tell you this because all this talk about Bill Burke (and the fact that I have been thinking about it for a while), motivated me to buy not online getting unStuck but also being PREpared.

Perhaps we can meet at the HLRC meeting and ill share them with you.

I also have a lot of experience. I am no expert but I have been wheeling since before I was 16. I make frequent trips to the Spring Creek Offroad Park off 45 and Spring Stubener (sp?). I was thinking about going this Sunday, maybe you can roll along (or we can find a group :)).

Its all about being helpful. Dont let anyone bring you down.

Lastly, anyone that doesnt know Houston CLAY doesnt quite understand what you were dealing with.

I love this place, you will too.

YAY!

I worked at Texas and Main for a while!!

Where can I find more about HLRC meetings?

Spring Creek Offroad Park!! Will a stock rig like mine be able to handle anything there? I would need to get some gear before I could go? I have only what the truck came with. Please tell me there will not be any mud there!!
