You remind me of this guy who works like 60+ hours/week at this little hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant where I used to live. When he would come to get our drink orders, he would only say, "Would you like some coffee tea please ma'am sir?" Same line for YEARS! Silly man...but you're in software.

Well you sort of got me! Just no tea. For a while I was working 80+ hours/week. I am down to about 50 now. But I don't code the same thing every day, so that is a good thing for me :p

#1 recommendation -- Find some fellow LR owners and go out and learn from them.. Your local dealership most likely has a couple of events a year on teaching basics to offroading (drive w/ two feet, dont wrap thumbs around steering wheel, slow as possible-fast as needed, etc..).. or find a local club and join up with them.. most people are very kind to a newbie..

I was just told of a Houston LR club, I am looking in to getting information. Too bad about dealerships, I am currently at war with mine. They sold me my Disco with an extended warrantee. They put it in there computer but never told the warrantee people. Now they are saying that there is no proof that I have an extended warrantee! I have called them about 15 times, i am trying to get more information about what the next steps they are taking to correct this. They say that they don't have the paper work because they 'sold' the dealership and when the sold it the papers disappeared!

Don't drop this issue, man. I got fucked by our stealership once or twice, and finally put my foot down. I got a new engine and warranty out of it, too! Score one for the good guys!

I don't plan on dropping the issue! When I bought the car they told me I had to get the warrantee and they would not take any off the price in exchange for dropping the warrantee. So far I am not too impressed with this dealership. I don't think I will be buying my Range Rover from these guys (when the time comes, goal is to have it by the time I am 27).

I got stuck in in the mudd once, I made damd sure my girl friend did not find out about her. What kind of mud did you get stuck in? Bog, Marsh, River bed, Front lawn? What have you done to get Unstuck? Mudd Turtles are harder to get out of than your average mud!

I posted a mspaint picture a while back that sort of showed what and where I am doing. I plan on getting pictures of the mess I was in on the way to work tomorrow. That should give you a better idea than the crappy mspaint picture I made.

But in general it was a grassy watery area. It is a usually dry place with grass and sand. It had rained real hard causing the area to flood.

its simple...walk it so u CAN BE SURE U CAN DRIVE IT

Oh I see!

Do you guys walk most of the terrain you cross? Or just the iffy looking stuff? I guess the same would go for water too? But I would think you would not need to walk it first if it was dry land.

Personally, I look at it just like a chess game. You have to stop, relax, mentally figure out each move, what will happen with it, and what will come next.
Yup! Exactly!

I'm still very much an inexperienced off-roader. I went out many times with some Rover buds and I had a beater Jeep XJ (5-speed, factory off road package, a few mods).

My biggest problem was when I got stuck, I'd start freaking out and thinking the worst. My truck was going to get destroyed, something bad is gonna happen, I'll make it worse, we'll get stranded here and eaten by a pack of hyenas. Hahaha...

I finnaly hung out with those guys enough and they all got stuck all the time too. They just were very relaxed about it. They'd hop out, other guys would watch, and then they'd kinda talk about it and work with eachother to get eachother un-stuck. It was kinda cool.

After a while, you don't worry about it, because you know it will be okay. Just stop, breathe, relax and think about the situation.

I'm still learning to do that, but I'm getting it now! Hey, it's a start.

Thanks!

Man I freaked out when it happened. My passenger did too. What made it worse is that after calling 10 tow truck places none of them had anybody to send out, or would send anybody out. At the time the only people ready to send anybody was a barge towing company! I finally got somebody to come and it got much better. But before the we had somebody on the way I was totally freaking out! All of the bad things went through my head.

Thanks for your post, it makes me feel alot better about the entire situation!

In the clubs maybe but on this forum HaHaHa... (what I mean by that is if you ask a "seemingly dumb" question not just newbies in general) I have found a lot of help but mostly just ask the questions that I need answered.

You just need to lear how to ask the question in right way without sounding like a "dumb ass" or a "plant" from another forum.

And if you are a "plant" then who cares someone gets a laugh at us... its not like we don't laugh at the jeep thats obviously screwed up by getting stuck cause they thought that they can do something they think they can but we all know they can't but as a fellow off roader we should just know to laugh with the windows up so they cant hear us then offer a helping hand.
