I like it too. I heard the first year it will be gas only but in '08 it should have a diesel engine option. This is due to EPA/smog diesel changes that go into effect in '07. They had to pull the CRD from the liberty because of this but apparently they are working on a new version.

Brand new ruby model with diesel i bet will run over $30k easily...

A Rubi Unlimited with the bells and whistles runs over 30k. This will end up in the 40k range with Diesel.

I know quite a few Rubi owners that have 40k in them with mods.

Old news, I know, but does anyone know why they dumped the 4.0 straight six?

Money. The inline was only in the Wrangler latest I new, so with that few of vehicles, its an expensive engine.

it had been in service for ages and altough a very stout motor i am sure it was time to refine things a bit. a more expensive and smoother V6 was in order i suppose.
sorta like the 4.0 and 4.6. it was time to move into the 20th century with the 4.4.

i'd assume that the V6 is more expensive. V6s are general cost more to build and maintain.
damn thing was a great motor. with the exception of having the alt on the bottom half of the motor. otherwise bomb proof.

the new V-6 is shared with the Chrysler minivans. it is in no way an improvement. and you're right, it was money that made them change from the I-6 since the TJ and LJ are the only models using it. i was very dissappointed to see the I-6 go.

Even if it turns out to look like the blue one in 'real life' you could easily lift it and it would be AWESOME!

I'm liking the new Jeeps a lot....4drs makes me happy. Freelander could still be a daily driver, but we will have to see how it turns out. I'll keep my Disco for fun and maybe get something else. Ivan wants a big truck first!
